Discover Why We Love Yorkies

Yorkshire Terriers, also known as Yorkies, have a special place in our hearts at The Puppy House. This breed has a beautiful, long, silky coat and sheds very little, which is why it's often recommended for people with allergies. A Yorkie typically weighs 7 pounds or less but has a big-dog attitude that can be feisty and bossy. Still, it's their sweet nature and the deep bond they share with their family that win most people over. Their love of cuddling and staying close all the time is the cherry on top. They settle in easily with most families. Tracking down a reputable Yorkie breeder in the Pinellas Park, Florida area can be challenging, since responsible breeders are so rare across the country. That's why we take great pride in making our carefully bred Yorkshire Terrier puppies available to families in Pinellas Park. Our goal is for every family to have access to a healthy, well-raised puppy they can count on.

Why Our Puppies Are the Best

At The Puppy House, we do things the right way when it comes to breeding and raising Yorkies. Our standards go far beyond the basics. Our adult dogs are all genetically tested, and they come from strong bloodlines known for wonderful temperaments. Every one of our dogs is well cared for, and each has plenty of room to play and socialize.

Every puppy starts out with Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), a series of gentle handling exercises done over the first few weeks. Socialization is another important step, and it lays the groundwork for good behavior and habits as they grow. Our puppies spend time playing and exploring in the backyard with kids, adults, and our own vaccinated adult dogs. It's great socialization, and it's good exercise for them too.

If you can, we invite you to visit us and pick out your puppy in person. You'll be able to look around our home, see our dogs, and meet us face to face. We take placing our Yorkies seriously, and we see it as much more than a one-time sale. We love making new friends, keeping in touch, and seeing our puppies grow up in loving homes.

Before heading home, each puppy receives their first round of vaccinations and a thorough veterinary exam. You can be confident that your new Yorkie is healthy, happy, and ready to become part of your family.

Getting Your Puppy From Sugarcreek to Pinellas Park, Florida

Families are welcome to pick up in person at the farm by appointment. From Pinellas Park that means 876 miles on the road and 17 to 19 hours of driving each way, a two day trip for most Floridians. The families who make it come for the visit as much as the puppy, since it's the one way to walk the property, meet the parent dogs, and go over the health records and microchip registration face to face.

Ground transport is what most Florida families use. A professional pet transport service drives the puppy door to door in a climate controlled van, with an individual carrier, a veterinary check before departure, and updates along the way. Transport leaves Sugarcreek on Tuesdays, and Florida runs take two to three days depending on the route and the stops before yours. Florida falls in our regional pricing tier at a flat $350, which is the same fee we charge Pennsylvania and Georgia even though the drive is several times longer. That rate covers Pinellas Park, , including Lealman FL, West Lealman FL, Bardmoor FL, Kenneth City FL, Madeira Beach FL, Feather Sound FL, and Bay Pines FL, and any other address in Pinellas County.

Flight nanny is the answer when you want the puppy home fast. A trained handler carries the puppy in the cabin, never in cargo, and hands it to you at baggage claim. Most of these deliveries finish the same day. For Pinellas Park, nannies fly into St. Petersburg Clearwater International Airport, and Tampa International Airport. The puppy needs to be at least eight weeks old, under 20 pounds including the carrier, and traveling with a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian, plus some flexibility on your end if weather pushes a flight. Cost is quoted per flight rather than by tier. The farther down the peninsula you are, the faster the driving miles pile up, and the extra money can buy back a full day.

Two things about this breed are worth knowing before travel day. A grown Yorkshire Terrier tops out around seven pounds, so the 20 pound in cabin limit is never a problem, and a puppy this small can dip low on blood sugar after a long day of travel. Small frequent meals in the first days home are the fix, and we go over that with you before your puppy leaves. If you're meeting a nanny at an airport in July, park close and get the carrier into air conditioning quickly rather than letting it sit in a hot garage.
