Why We Love Yorkshire Terriers

At The Puppy House, Yorkshire Terriers, also known as Yorkies, are a breed that's very dear to us. Yorkies have a beautiful, long, silky coat, and since they shed very little, they're often recommended for people with allergies. Yorkies usually weigh no more than 7 pounds, yet they have a big-dog attitude that can be both feisty and bossy. But what really wins people over is their sweet nature and the close bond they build with their family. Their love of cuddling and always staying close is the icing on the cake. They fit right in with most families. There are very few responsible breeders across the country, so finding reputable Yorkie breeders in the Wheaton, Illinois area can be difficult. That's why we take great pride in making our carefully bred Yorkshire Terrier puppies available to families in Wheaton. We believe every family deserves access to a healthy, well-raised puppy they can count on.

See What Sets Our Yorkie Puppies Apart

At The Puppy House, we care about breeding and raising Yorkies the right way. We aim much higher than the basics. All of our adult dogs come from strong bloodlines known for great temperaments, and every one is genetically tested. Our dogs are well cared for and have plenty of room to play and socialize.

Each of our puppies receives Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), a set of gentle handling exercises done in the first few weeks of life. Another important step is socialization, which lays the groundwork for good behavior and habits as they grow. We let our puppies play and explore in the backyard with kids, adults, and our own vaccinated adult dogs. It's a great way to socialize them, and they get plenty of exercise too.

If you can, we invite you to visit us and pick out your puppy in person. That way, you can tour our home, see our dogs, and meet us face to face. We don't take placing our Yorkies lightly, and to us it's more than a one-time sale. We love forming new friendships, staying in touch, and seeing our pups grow up in loving homes.

Before your puppy comes home, they receive their first round of vaccinations and a thorough veterinary exam. You can trust that you're bringing home a healthy, happy Yorkie who's ready to be part of your family.

Yorkie Puppy Delivery to Wheaton, Illinois, and What Each Option Costs

Pickup in Sugarcreek. Collect the puppy yourself, by appointment. From Wheaton that's 6 to 8 hours each way. Families who make the drive see where the puppy was raised and go over the vaccination records, microchip registration, and health guarantee in person.

Home delivery by ground. Most Illinois families take this option, and it's the one we would suggest for almost any address in DuPage County. A professional transport service drives the puppy door to door in a climate controlled van, in an individual carrier, with a veterinary check before departure and updates along the way. Transport leaves on Tuesdays. At $350 flat, Illinois sits in our regional tier, and since the state is one of the nearer stops heading west, most families have their puppy within a day or two of departure rather than the full three. Wheaton comes up 350 miles into the route, and the same van reaches , including and Milton IL.

Flight nanny. A handler carries the puppy in the cabin beside them, never in cargo, and hands it over at baggage claim. The usual arrival airports for Wheaton families are Chicago O'Hare International Airport, and Chicago Midway International Airport. Nearly all of these trips wrap up inside a day. It costs more than ground transport and gets quoted per flight, since the price depends on the route and the date. The puppy has to be at least eight weeks old and under twenty pounds including the carrier, which no Yorkshire Terrier gets anywhere near, and we arrange the health certificate beforehand. Winter delays are worth planning around if you're flying a puppy into Illinois in January.

We send food along with every puppy. The method, the timing, and the price all get confirmed on a call once a puppy is reserved.
