Find Out Why We Love Yorkies

Yorkshire Terriers, also known as Yorkies, have a special place in our hearts at The Puppy House. Known for their beautiful, long, silky coat, Yorkies shed very little and are often recommended for people with allergies. While most Yorkies weigh 7 pounds or less, they have a big-dog attitude that can be feisty and bossy. That said, what really wins people over is their sweet nature and the deep bond they form with their family. Their love of cuddling and staying close all the time is the icing on the cake. They adapt well to most families. Families in the Port Charlotte, Florida area often find it challenging to locate a reputable Yorkie breeder, since there are so few responsible breeders nationwide. This is exactly why we take great pride in offering our carefully bred Yorkshire Terrier puppies to families in Port Charlotte. Every family deserves a healthy, well-raised puppy they can count on.

Why Our Puppies Are the Best

At The Puppy House, we do things the right way when it comes to breeding and raising Yorkies. Our standards are much higher than what's required. Our adult dogs are genetically tested and come from strong bloodlines with great temperaments. Every dog here gets great care and has plenty of room to play and socialize.

All our puppies receive Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), a series of gentle handling exercises we do in the first few weeks of life. Socialization is another essential step, and it lays the groundwork for good behavior and habits as puppies grow. In our backyard, the puppies play and explore with kids, adults, and our own vaccinated adult dogs. It's great socialization, and it's good exercise for them too.

We invite you to visit us and pick out your puppy in person if you can. You'll be able to see our home and our dogs and meet us face to face. Placing our Yorkies is something we take seriously, and to us it's more than a one-time sale. We love making new friends, checking in over the years, and watching our pups grow up in loving homes.

Every puppy has their first round of vaccinations and a thorough veterinary exam before going to their new home. You can be sure you're bringing home a healthy, happy Yorkie who's ready to become part of your family.

Getting Your Puppy From Sugarcreek to Port Charlotte, Florida

Families are welcome to pick up in person at the farm by appointment. From Port Charlotte that means 934 miles on the road and 18 to 20 hours of driving each way, a two day trip for most Floridians. The families who make it come for the visit as much as the puppy, since it's the one way to walk the property, meet the parent dogs, and go over the health records and microchip registration face to face.

Ground transport is what most Florida families use. A professional pet transport service drives the puppy door to door in a climate controlled van, with an individual carrier, a veterinary check before departure, and updates along the way. Transport leaves Sugarcreek on Tuesdays, and Florida runs take two to three days depending on the route and the stops before yours. Florida falls in our regional pricing tier at a flat $350, which is the same fee we charge Pennsylvania and Georgia even though the drive is several times longer. That rate covers Port Charlotte, , including North Port FL, Punta Gorda FL, Arcadia FL, Southeast Arcadia FL, Charlotte Harbor FL, Harbour Heights FL, Cleveland FL, Charlotte Park FL, and Solana FL, and any other address in Charlotte County.

Flight nanny is the answer when you want the puppy home fast. A trained handler carries the puppy in the cabin, never in cargo, and hands it to you at baggage claim. Most of these deliveries finish the same day. For Port Charlotte, nannies fly into Punta Gorda Airport, and Southwest Florida International Airport. The puppy needs to be at least eight weeks old, under 20 pounds including the carrier, and traveling with a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian, plus some flexibility on your end if weather pushes a flight. Cost is quoted per flight rather than by tier. The farther down the peninsula you are, the faster the driving miles pile up, and the extra money can buy back a full day.

Two things about this breed are worth knowing before travel day. A grown Yorkshire Terrier tops out around seven pounds, so the 20 pound in cabin limit is never a problem, and a puppy this small can dip low on blood sugar after a long day of travel. Small frequent meals in the first days home are the fix, and we go over that with you before your puppy leaves. If you're meeting a nanny at an airport in July, park close and get the carrier into air conditioning quickly rather than letting it sit in a hot garage.
