See Why Yorkies Are So Special to Us

Few breeds are as close to our hearts at The Puppy House as the Yorkshire Terrier, also known as the Yorkie. Their coat is long, silky, and beautiful, and because it sheds very little, Yorkies are often recommended for people with allergies. Small as they are at 7 pounds or less, Yorkies have a big-dog attitude that can be feisty and bossy. Yet what really wins people over is their sweet disposition and the deep bond they form with their family. Their love of cuddling and staying right by your side is the icing on the cake. They usually fit right in with most families. With so few responsible breeders across the country, finding a reputable Yorkie breeder in the Fort Myers, Florida area can be a challenge. That's why we take great pride in offering our carefully bred Yorkshire Terrier puppies to families in Fort Myers. Our mission is to help every family find a healthy, well-raised puppy they can count on.

Why Our Yorkie Puppies Are the Best

At The Puppy House, we always do things the right way when it comes to breeding and raising Yorkies. We expect much more from ourselves than the basics. All of our adult dogs come from strong bloodlines known for great temperaments, and every one is genetically tested. Each of our dogs is well cared for and has lots of room to play and be social.

Every puppy takes part in Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), a series of gentle handling exercises done in the first few weeks of life. Socialization is another important step in helping our puppies develop good behavior and habits as they grow. In our backyard, the puppies play and explore with kids, adults, and our own vaccinated adult dogs. This is a great way for them to socialize, and they get plenty of exercise too.

We'd love for you to visit us and pick out your puppy in person if you can. That way, you can tour our home, see our dogs, and meet us face to face. Placing our Yorkies matters to us, and we see it as more than a one-time sale. We love making new friends, keeping in touch, and watching our pups grow up in loving homes.

Each puppy gets their first round of vaccinations and a thorough exam from a veterinarian before going home. You can be sure you're bringing home a healthy, happy Yorkie who's ready to become part of your family.

Getting Your Puppy From Sugarcreek to Fort Myers, Florida

Families are welcome to pick up in person at the farm by appointment. From Fort Myers that means 957 miles on the road and 18 to 20 hours of driving each way, a two day trip for most Floridians. The families who make it come for the visit as much as the puppy, since it's the one way to walk the property, meet the parent dogs, and go over the health records and microchip registration face to face.

Ground transport is what most Florida families use. A professional pet transport service drives the puppy door to door in a climate controlled van, with an individual carrier, a veterinary check before departure, and updates along the way. Transport leaves Sugarcreek on Tuesdays, and Florida runs take two to three days depending on the route and the stops before yours. Florida falls in our regional pricing tier at a flat $350, which is the same fee we charge Pennsylvania and Georgia even though the drive is several times longer. That rate covers Fort Myers, , including Cape Coral FL, Lehigh Acres FL, North Fort Myers FL, and Pine Manor FL, and any other address in Lee County.

Flight nanny is the answer when you want the puppy home fast. A trained handler carries the puppy in the cabin, never in cargo, and hands it to you at baggage claim. Most of these deliveries finish the same day. For Fort Myers, nannies fly into Southwest Florida International Airport, and Punta Gorda Airport. The puppy needs to be at least eight weeks old, under 20 pounds including the carrier, and traveling with a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian, plus some flexibility on your end if weather pushes a flight. Cost is quoted per flight rather than by tier. The farther down the peninsula you are, the faster the driving miles pile up, and the extra money can buy back a full day.

Two things about this breed are worth knowing before travel day. A grown Yorkshire Terrier tops out around seven pounds, so the 20 pound in cabin limit is never a problem, and a puppy this small can dip low on blood sugar after a long day of travel. Small frequent meals in the first days home are the fix, and we go over that with you before your puppy leaves. If you're meeting a nanny at an airport in July, park close and get the carrier into air conditioning quickly rather than letting it sit in a hot garage.
