Learn Why We Love Yorkshire Terriers

At The Puppy House, Yorkshire Terriers, also known as Yorkies, are a breed that's very dear to us. This breed has a beautiful, long, silky coat and sheds very little, which is why it's often recommended for people with allergies. Despite typically weighing 7 pounds or less, Yorkies carry a big-dog attitude that can be feisty and bossy. But the biggest reason people fall in love with them is their sweet nature and the deep bond they form with their family. The fact that they love to cuddle and stay close all the time is the icing on the cake. They fit in well with most families. With so few responsible breeders across the country, finding a reputable Yorkie breeder in the North Fort Myers, Florida area can be a challenge. That's why it means so much to us to offer our carefully bred Yorkshire Terrier puppies to families in North Fort Myers. Our goal is to help every family bring home a healthy, well-raised puppy they can rely on.

Find Out What Makes Our Yorkie Puppies Special

At The Puppy House, we care about breeding and raising Yorkies the right way. We go well beyond the basic standards. All the adult dogs in our program are genetically tested and come from strong bloodlines known for great temperaments. Our dogs are well cared for and have plenty of space for playing and socializing.

During their first few weeks, our puppies go through Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), a series of gentle handling exercises. Next comes socialization, another important step that lays the groundwork for good behavior and habits as they grow. In our backyard, the puppies play and explore with kids, adults, and our own vaccinated adult dogs. It's great socialization, and it keeps them active too.

If you can, we'd love for you to come see us and pick out your puppy in person. It's a chance to see our home, meet our dogs, and get to know us face to face. We take great care in placing our Yorkies, and to us it's more than a one-time sale. We love meeting new friends, keeping in touch, and watching our puppies grow up in loving homes.

Each puppy gets their first round of vaccinations and a thorough exam from a veterinarian before going home. You can be sure you're bringing home a healthy, happy Yorkie who's ready to become part of your family.

Getting Your Puppy From Sugarcreek to North Fort Myers, Florida

Families are welcome to pick up in person at the farm by appointment. From North Fort Myers that means 955 miles on the road and 18 to 20 hours of driving each way, a two day trip for most Floridians. The families who make it come for the visit as much as the puppy, since it's the one way to walk the property, meet the parent dogs, and go over the health records and microchip registration face to face.

Ground transport is what most Florida families use. A professional pet transport service drives the puppy door to door in a climate controlled van, with an individual carrier, a veterinary check before departure, and updates along the way. Transport leaves Sugarcreek on Tuesdays, and Florida runs take two to three days depending on the route and the stops before yours. Florida falls in our regional pricing tier at a flat $350, which is the same fee we charge Pennsylvania and Georgia even though the drive is several times longer. That rate covers North Fort Myers, , including Fort Myers FL, Fort Myers Shores FL, Tice FL, Suncoast Estates FL, Lochmoor Waterway Estates FL, Burnt Store Marina FL, and Palmona Park FL, and any other address in Lee County.

Flight nanny is the answer when you want the puppy home fast. A trained handler carries the puppy in the cabin, never in cargo, and hands it to you at baggage claim. Most of these deliveries finish the same day. For North Fort Myers, nannies fly into Southwest Florida International Airport, and Punta Gorda Airport. The puppy needs to be at least eight weeks old, under 20 pounds including the carrier, and traveling with a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian, plus some flexibility on your end if weather pushes a flight. Cost is quoted per flight rather than by tier. The farther down the peninsula you are, the faster the driving miles pile up, and the extra money can buy back a full day.

Two things about this breed are worth knowing before travel day. A grown Yorkshire Terrier tops out around seven pounds, so the 20 pound in cabin limit is never a problem, and a puppy this small can dip low on blood sugar after a long day of travel. Small frequent meals in the first days home are the fix, and we go over that with you before your puppy leaves. If you're meeting a nanny at an airport in July, park close and get the carrier into air conditioning quickly rather than letting it sit in a hot garage.
