See Why Yorkies Are So Special to Us

Few breeds are as close to our hearts at The Puppy House as the Yorkshire Terrier, also known as the Yorkie. Their coat is long, silky, and beautiful, and because it sheds very little, Yorkies are often recommended for people with allergies. Even at 7 pounds or less, Yorkies have a big-dog attitude that can come across as feisty and bossy. But their sweet nature and the deep bond they form with their family are what really win people over. Their love of cuddling and always staying close is the icing on the cake. They adjust easily to life with most families. Searching for a reputable Yorkie breeder in the Peoria, Illinois area can be challenging, given how few responsible breeders there are nationwide. Because of this, we take great pride in offering our carefully bred Yorkshire Terrier puppies to families in Peoria. We want each family to have access to a healthy, well-raised puppy they can trust.

Why Our Yorkie Puppies Are the Best

At The Puppy House, we always do things the right way when it comes to breeding and raising Yorkies. We expect much more from ourselves than the basics. All of our adult dogs are genetically tested and come from strong bloodlines known for their great temperaments. We give our dogs great care and plenty of room to play and socialize.

All of our puppies go through Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), a series of gentle handling exercises done in the first few weeks of life. Socialization is another important step that helps our puppies develop good behavior and habits as they grow. The puppies get to play and explore in the backyard with kids, adults, and our own vaccinated adult dogs. It's great socialization, and it keeps them active too.

If possible, we invite you to come visit us and choose your puppy in person. This gives you a chance to see our home and our dogs and meet us face to face. We take every Yorkie placement seriously, and to us it's much more than a one-time sale. We enjoy gaining new friends, keeping in touch, and watching our pups grow up in loving homes.

All of our puppies get their first round of vaccinations and a thorough veterinary exam before they go home. You can be sure you're bringing home a healthy, happy Yorkie who's ready to become part of your family.

Pickup in Sugarcreek. Collect the puppy yourself, by appointment. From Peoria that's 7 to 9 hours each way. Families who make the drive see where the puppy was raised and go over the vaccination records, microchip registration, and health guarantee in person.

Home delivery by ground. Most Illinois families take this option, and it's the one we would suggest for almost any address in Peoria County. A professional transport service drives the puppy door to door in a climate controlled van, in an individual carrier, with a veterinary check before departure and updates along the way. Transport leaves on Tuesdays. At $350 flat, Illinois sits in our regional tier, and since the state is one of the nearer stops heading west, most families have their puppy within a day or two of departure rather than the full three. Peoria comes up 417 miles into the route, and the same van reaches , including Peoria City IL, East Peoria IL, Limestone IL, Fondulac IL, West Peoria IL, Metamora IL, and Bellevue IL.

Flight nanny. A handler carries the puppy in the cabin beside them, never in cargo, and hands it over at baggage claim. The usual arrival airports for Peoria families are General Wayne A. Downing Peoria International Airport, and Central Illinois Regional Airport at Bloomington-Normal. Nearly all of these trips wrap up inside a day. It costs more than ground transport and gets quoted per flight, since the price depends on the route and the date. The puppy has to be at least eight weeks old and under twenty pounds including the carrier, which no Yorkshire Terrier gets anywhere near, and we arrange the health certificate beforehand. Winter delays are worth planning around if you're flying a puppy into Illinois in January.

We send food along with every puppy. The method, the timing, and the price all get confirmed on a call once a puppy is reserved.
