Discover the Reasons We Love Yorkies

Yorkshire Terriers, affectionately called Yorkies, have a special place in our hearts at The Puppy House. Their coat is long, silky, and beautiful, and because it sheds very little, Yorkies are often recommended for people with allergies. They may be tiny, typically weighing 7 pounds or less, but Yorkies have a feisty, bossy, big-dog attitude. What really wins people over, though, is their sweet nature and the deep bond they form with their family. The fact that they love to cuddle and stay close all the time is the icing on the cake. They quickly become part of most families. Finding a reputable Yorkie breeder near Grand Rapids, Michigan can be a challenge, since there are so few responsible breeders across the country. For that reason, we take great pride in offering our carefully bred Yorkshire Terrier puppies to families in Grand Rapids. Our goal is for every family to have access to a healthy, well-raised puppy they can count on.

Find Out What Sets Our Puppies Apart

We breed and raise our Yorkies the right way here at The Puppy House. We hold ourselves to standards that go well beyond the basics. Our adult dogs are genetically tested and come from strong bloodlines with great temperaments. Our dogs are well cared for and have all the room they need to play and socialize.

Every puppy starts out with Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), a series of gentle handling exercises done over the first few weeks. Socialization is another essential step, and it lays the groundwork for good behavior and habits as puppies grow. They play and explore in the backyard with kids, adults, and our own vaccinated adult dogs. It's great for their social skills, and it gives them plenty of exercise too.

Whenever possible, we invite you to visit us and pick out your puppy in person. That gives you the chance to see our home and our dogs and meet us face to face. Every Yorkie we place matters to us, and it's never just a one-time sale. We love making new friends, keeping in touch, and seeing our puppies grow up in loving homes.

Each puppy has their first round of vaccinations and a full veterinary exam before going home. You can bring your new Yorkie home knowing they're healthy, happy, and ready to be part of your family.

Getting a Yorkie Puppy Home to Grand Rapids, Michigan

Three ways work here, and which one we suggest for Grand Rapids mostly comes down to how you feel about the drive.

Pickup at the farm is free and it's the option we point Michigan families toward first. The drive is short by our standards. From Grand Rapids it's 269 miles, which works out to 4 to 6 hours each way. You get to see where the puppy was raised, go over the vaccination records and microchip registration at the table, and drive home with the puppy in your lap rather than in a van.

Home delivery by ground is our most popular option. It costs a flat $350 anywhere in Michigan, so a Kent County address pays the same whether it's in Grand Rapids or out in , including Wyoming MI, Plainfield MI, Forest Hills MI, Walker MI, and East Grand Rapids MI. A professional transport service drives door to door in a climate controlled van, the puppy travels in an individual carrier after a pre transport vet check, and you get updates along the way. Transport leaves on Tuesdays, and most families are holding their puppy within about three days of departure, often sooner given how short the run north is.

Flight nanny is the fast option and gets quoted per flight. A handler carries the puppy in the cabin the whole way, never in cargo, and hands it to you at baggage claim, usually the same day. Yorkies make this easy because a puppy and an airline approved soft carrier together come nowhere near the twenty pound cabin limit. Grand Rapids families would meet the nanny at Gerald R. Ford International Airport, and Muskegon County Airport. Health certificates are arranged before travel, and weather delays are worth planning around in winter.
