Why Yorkies Have Our Hearts

Everyone at The Puppy House has a soft spot for Yorkshire Terriers, also known as Yorkies. This low-shedding breed has a long, beautiful, silky coat and is often recommended for people with allergies. Although Yorkies usually weigh no more than 7 pounds, their big-dog attitude can be feisty and bossy. What really wins people over, though, is their sweet nature and the deep bond they form with their family. Plus, they love cuddling and staying close all the time, which makes them even more special. They fit right in with most families. Finding a reputable Yorkie breeder in the Decatur, Alabama area can be difficult, since there are so few responsible breeders across the country. That's why we're proud to bring our carefully bred Yorkie puppies to families in Decatur. We want every family to have access to a healthy, well-raised puppy they can depend on.

Discover What Makes Our Puppies the Best

Breeding and raising Yorkies the right way is what we're all about at The Puppy House. We set our standards well above the basics. Our adult dogs are genetically tested and come from strong bloodlines with great temperaments. Our dogs are well cared for and have plenty of space for playing and socializing.

In the first few weeks of life, every puppy goes through Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), a series of gentle handling exercises. Socialization is another important step, and it builds the foundation for good behavior and habits as they grow. The puppies get to play and explore in the backyard with kids, adults, and our own vaccinated adult dogs. Besides being great socialization, it gives them plenty of exercise.

If you're able to, we'd love for you to visit and choose your puppy in person. It's a chance to see our home, meet our dogs, and get to know us face to face. We're serious about placing our Yorkies, and for us it's more than a one-time sale. We love making new friends, staying in touch, and watching our pups grow up in loving homes.

Every puppy gets their first round of shots and a thorough veterinary exam before going home. You can be sure you're bringing home a healthy, happy Yorkie who's ready to become part of your family.

Yorkie Puppy Delivery to Decatur, Alabama

Ground transport is how nearly every Decatur family brings a puppy home, and it's a flat $350 to any address in Alabama, Limestone County included. A driver carries the puppy door to door in a climate controlled van, in an individual carrier, and sends updates along the way. Vans leave Sugarcreek on Tuesdays. Most families have their puppy within about three days of departure, and with Decatur sitting 503 miles from the farm, plan on two to three days rather than an overnight arrival. The same run reaches , including Cullman AL, Hartselle AL, Priceville AL, Moulton AL, Trinity AL, Good Hope AL, Falkville AL, Double Springs AL, Somerville AL, Addison AL, South Vinemont AL, North Courtland AL, West Point AL, Courtland AL, and Hillsboro AL, so the fee and the timing hold if you live just outside town. Toy breed pups can dip in blood sugar after travel, so meals stay small and frequent on the road and a bag of the food it's been eating goes along.

Farm pickup is open to anyone by appointment. From Decatur the drive is 9 to 11 hours each way, which for most families means a night somewhere along the route rather than a single day out and back. What the miles buy you is a walk around the property, a look at the parents, and the health records and microchip registration gone over in person.

Flight nanny is the third route. A handler carries the puppy in the cabin, never in cargo, and hands it over at baggage claim, usually the same day. For Decatur, the arrivals we would look at are Huntsville International Airport, and Northwest Alabama Regional Airport. Cost is quoted per flight and runs higher than ground, since it depends on the route and airline that day. A veterinary health certificate gets arranged ahead of travel, and the puppy needs to be at least eight weeks old and under 20 pounds including the carrier, a limit no Yorkie will ever test.

For Decatur, ground transport is the sensible pick. If 9 to 11 hours behind the wheel sounds like a fair trade for meeting us and seeing the farm, the drive up is worth thinking about on a free weekend, and if you'd rather have the puppy home the same day, ask us to price out a flight.
