Find Out Why Yorkies Have Our Hearts

At The Puppy House, Yorkshire Terriers, or Yorkies as they're often called, have a special place in our hearts. This breed has a beautiful, long, silky coat and sheds very little, which is why it's often recommended for people with allergies. Yorkies usually tip the scales at 7 pounds or less, yet they have a feisty, bossy, big-dog attitude. But their sweet temperament and the deep bond they create with their family are what win people over. Their fondness for cuddling and staying close all the time is the icing on the cake. They fit in well with most families. Finding a reputable Yorkie breeder in the Athens, Alabama area can be difficult, since there are so few responsible breeders across the country. That's why we take great pride in bringing our carefully bred Yorkshire Terrier puppies to families in Athens. Our aim is to give every family access to a healthy, well-raised puppy they can count on.

Why Our Puppies Are Top Quality

At The Puppy House, we believe in doing things the right way when it comes to breeding and raising Yorkies. Our standards go well past the bare minimum. Each of our adult dogs is genetically tested and comes from strong bloodlines known for great temperaments. Every dog here gets great care and has plenty of room to play and socialize.

Every puppy is given Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), a series of gentle handling exercises done early in life. Socialization matters just as much, since it lays the groundwork for good behavior and habits as they grow. Our puppies get to play and explore in the backyard with kids, adults, and our own vaccinated adult dogs. This time outside is great socialization, and it gives them plenty of exercise too.

We invite you to stop by and pick out your puppy in person if you can. This way, you can see our home and our dogs and meet us face to face. We take placing our Yorkies to heart, and to us it's more than a one-time sale. We love making new friends, hearing from them over the years, and watching our pups grow up in loving homes.

Before going home, each puppy is given their first round of vaccinations and a thorough veterinary exam. You can be sure you're bringing home a healthy, happy Yorkie who's ready to become part of your family.

Yorkie Puppy Delivery to Athens, Alabama

Ground transport is how nearly every Athens family brings a puppy home, and it's a flat $350 to any address in Alabama, Limestone County included. A driver carries the puppy door to door in a climate controlled van, in an individual carrier, and sends updates along the way. Vans leave Sugarcreek on Tuesdays. Most families have their puppy within about three days of departure, and with Athens sitting 489 miles from the farm, plan on two to three days rather than an overnight arrival. The same run reaches , including Decatur AL, Madison AL, Florence AL, Pulaski TN, Ardmore AL, Rogersville AL, Ardmore TN, Minor Hill TN, Elkmont AL, and Elkton TN, so the fee and the timing hold if you live just outside town. Toy breed pups can dip in blood sugar after travel, so meals stay small and frequent on the road and a bag of the food it's been eating goes along.

Farm pickup is open to anyone by appointment. From Athens the drive is 9 to 11 hours each way, which for most families means a night somewhere along the route rather than a single day out and back. What the miles buy you is a walk around the property, a look at the parents, and the health records and microchip registration gone over in person.

Flight nanny is the third route. A handler carries the puppy in the cabin, never in cargo, and hands it over at baggage claim, usually the same day. For Athens, the arrivals we would look at are Huntsville International Airport, and Northwest Alabama Regional Airport. Cost is quoted per flight and runs higher than ground, since it depends on the route and airline that day. A veterinary health certificate gets arranged ahead of travel, and the puppy needs to be at least eight weeks old and under 20 pounds including the carrier, a limit no Yorkie will ever test.

For Athens, ground transport is the sensible pick. If 9 to 11 hours behind the wheel sounds like a fair trade for meeting us and seeing the farm, the drive up is worth thinking about on a free weekend, and if you'd rather have the puppy home the same day, ask us to price out a flight.
