Here's Why We Adore Yorkies

At The Puppy House, the Yorkshire Terrier, or Yorkie, holds a special place in our hearts. Yorkies are low-shedding dogs with long, beautiful, silky coats, and they're often recommended for people with allergies. Although Yorkies usually weigh no more than 7 pounds, their big-dog attitude can be feisty and bossy. But what wins people's hearts is their sweet nature and the deep bond they form with their family. As a bonus, they love to cuddle and stay close all the time. Yorkies adapt easily to most families. Reputable Yorkie breeders can be hard to find in the Calabasas, California area, since there are so few responsible breeders nationwide. This is why we're so proud to offer carefully bred Yorkshire Terrier puppies to families in Calabasas. We want every family to have the chance to own a healthy, well-raised puppy they can count on.

See Why Our Puppies Stand Out

The Puppy House is dedicated to breeding and raising Yorkies the right way. Our standards go far beyond the basics. Our adult dogs are all genetically tested, and they come from strong bloodlines known for wonderful temperaments. Our dogs are well cared for and have plenty of space for playing and socializing.

Our puppies go through Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), a series of gentle handling exercises done during the first few weeks of life. We also focus on socialization, which lays the groundwork for good behavior and habits as our puppies grow. Our puppies get to play and explore in the backyard with kids, adults, and our own vaccinated adult dogs. It's great socialization, and it's good exercise for them too.

We invite you to visit and choose your puppy in person whenever possible. While you're here, you can see our home and our dogs and meet us face to face. Every Yorkie we place matters to us, and it's never just a one-time sale. We enjoy making new friends, staying in touch, and seeing our pups grow up in loving homes.

Each puppy leaves with their first round of vaccinations and a thorough veterinary exam completed. You can trust that you're bringing home a healthy, happy Yorkie who's ready to be part of your family.

Yorkie Puppy Delivery to Calabasas, California: Costs, Timing, and Airports

There are three ways home, and for Calabasas the choice is usually between the last two.

Farm pickup. Families are welcome in Sugarcreek by appointment. Driving it from Calabasas means 2064 miles and 40 to 42 hours behind the wheel in each direction, so the families who visit nearly always fly into Cleveland or Columbus and drive about an hour and a half out into Tuscarawas County. That only makes sense if you were coming east anyway. When it does work out, you see the property, meet the parents where possible, and we go through the vaccination records, microchip registration, and guarantee at the kitchen table. The puppy leaves with a bag of the food it has been eating, a toy, and a blanket that smells like the litter.

Ground transport. A professional pet transport service drives the puppy door to door in a custom climate controlled van, in an individual carrier, with a veterinary check before departure and updates from the road. The fee to California is a flat $450, whether the address is in Calabasas or in , including Topanga CA, Bell Canyon CA, and Hidden Hills CA. Vans leave on Tuesdays, and the West Coast run takes two to three days depending on the route, so treat any arrival window as approximate until it's confirmed by phone.

Flight nanny. This is the one we usually recommend for Calabasas. A trained handler keeps the puppy in the cabin beside them for the whole flight, never in cargo, in an airline approved soft carrier under the seat, and sends photos and video along the way. Most of these deliveries finish in a single day. Because California sits three hours behind Ohio, a morning departure often means an early afternoon handoff your time, and that handoff happens at baggage claim rather than at the gate. Los Angeles County families meet their nanny at Bobe Hope / Hollywood Burbank Airport, and Los Angeles International Airport. Flight nanny costs more than ground and is quoted per flight, since the price depends on the route and the date. The puppy needs to be at least eight weeks old, needs a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian, and needs to weigh under 20 pounds including the carrier. A Yorkshire Terrier puppy at two or three pounds isn't close to that limit, which is part of why the breed travels so well in the cabin.

Timing matters more in California than it does most places. For a midsummer arrival in Calabasas we aim for early in the day and ask you to have the car cool and a water bowl ready. Toy breed puppies also run their blood sugar down on a travel day, so a small meal soon after you get home matters more than it would with a bigger dog.
