Why We Love Yorkshire Terriers

At The Puppy House, Yorkshire Terriers, also known as Yorkies, are a breed that's very dear to us. A Yorkie's long, beautiful, silky coat sheds very little, which is why the breed is often recommended for people with allergies. Most Yorkies weigh 7 pounds or less, but their big-dog attitude can be feisty and bossy. Still, it's their sweet nature and the deep bond they share with their family that win most people over. Their love of cuddling and staying close all the time is the cherry on top. They fit right in with most families. Responsible breeders are few and far between across the country, which makes finding a reputable Yorkie breeder in the Wilmette, Illinois area a challenge. For this reason, we're proud to offer our carefully bred Yorkie puppies to families in Wilmette. We want every family to have a healthy, well-raised puppy they can rely on.

See What Sets Our Yorkie Puppies Apart

At The Puppy House, we care about breeding and raising Yorkies the right way. We go far beyond the minimum standards. Our adult dogs are genetically tested and come from strong bloodlines with a reputation for great temperaments. Every dog we have receives excellent care and has plenty of room to play and socialize.

Each puppy completes Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), a series of gentle handling exercises done in the first few weeks of life. Socialization is another important step that lays the groundwork for good behavior and habits as our puppies grow. Our puppies play and explore outside in the backyard with kids, adults, and our own vaccinated adult dogs. It's great socialization, and it's a fun way for them to get exercise too.

We encourage you to visit us and pick out your puppy in person if you can. You'll be able to see our home and our dogs and meet us face to face. Placing our Yorkies matters to us, and we see it as more than a one-time sale. We love making new friends and staying in touch as our pups grow up in loving homes.

Before going home, every puppy receives their first round of vaccinations and a thorough veterinary exam. You can trust that you're bringing home a healthy, happy Yorkie who's ready to be part of your family.

Yorkie Puppy Delivery to Wilmette, Illinois, and What Each Option Costs

Pickup in Sugarcreek. Collect the puppy yourself, by appointment. From Wilmette that's 6 to 8 hours each way. Families who make the drive see where the puppy was raised and go over the vaccination records, microchip registration, and health guarantee in person.

Home delivery by ground. Most Illinois families take this option, and it's the one we would suggest for almost any address in Cook County. A professional transport service drives the puppy door to door in a climate controlled van, in an individual carrier, with a veterinary check before departure and updates along the way. Transport leaves on Tuesdays. At $350 flat, Illinois sits in our regional tier, and since the state is one of the nearer stops heading west, most families have their puppy within a day or two of departure rather than the full three. Wilmette comes up 334 miles into the route, and the same van reaches , including New Trier IL, and Kenilworth IL.

Flight nanny. A handler carries the puppy in the cabin beside them, never in cargo, and hands it over at baggage claim. The usual arrival airports for Wilmette families are Chicago O'Hare International Airport, and Chicago Midway International Airport. Nearly all of these trips wrap up inside a day. It costs more than ground transport and gets quoted per flight, since the price depends on the route and the date. The puppy has to be at least eight weeks old and under twenty pounds including the carrier, which no Yorkshire Terrier gets anywhere near, and we arrange the health certificate beforehand. Winter delays are worth planning around if you're flying a puppy into Illinois in January.

We send food along with every puppy. The method, the timing, and the price all get confirmed on a call once a puppy is reserved.
