Discover Why We're So Fond of Yorkies

Here at The Puppy House, Yorkshire Terriers, also called Yorkies, hold a special place in our hearts. This breed is known for its long, beautiful, silky coat, and because it sheds very little, it's often recommended for people with allergies. Yorkies usually weigh no more than 7 pounds, yet they have a big-dog attitude that can be both feisty and bossy. Still, it's their sweet nature and the deep bond they share with their family that win most people over. Their love of cuddling and staying right by your side is the icing on the cake. They usually fit right in with most families. Families in the Santa Clarita, California area often find it challenging to locate a reputable Yorkie breeder, since there are so few responsible breeders nationwide. For that reason, we take great pride in offering our carefully bred Yorkshire Terrier puppies to families in Santa Clarita. Our goal is for every family to have access to a healthy, well-raised puppy they can count on.

Why So Many Families Choose Our Puppies

Here at The Puppy House, we breed and raise our Yorkies the right way. Our standards go far beyond the basics. Every adult dog we own is genetically tested and comes from strong bloodlines known for great temperaments. Our dogs are well cared for and enjoy plenty of room to play and socialize.

All of our puppies go through Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), a series of gentle handling exercises done in the first few weeks of life. Socialization is another key step, and it lays the groundwork for good behavior and habits as they grow. In the backyard, our puppies play and explore with kids, adults, and our own vaccinated adult dogs. This helps with socialization and gives them plenty of exercise too.

If you're able to, we'd love for you to visit and choose your puppy in person. That way, you can tour our home, see our dogs, and meet us face to face. We take every Yorkie placement seriously, and to us it's much more than a one-time sale. We love making new friends, checking in over the years, and watching our pups grow up in loving homes.

Before going home, every puppy gets their first round of vaccinations and is checked thoroughly by a veterinarian. You can rest easy knowing you're bringing home a healthy, happy Yorkie who's ready to be part of your family.

Yorkie Puppy Delivery to Santa Clarita, California: Costs, Timing, and Airports

There are three ways home, and for Santa Clarita the choice is usually between the last two.

Farm pickup. Families are welcome in Sugarcreek by appointment. Driving it from Santa Clarita means 2053 miles and 40 to 42 hours behind the wheel in each direction, so the families who visit nearly always fly into Cleveland or Columbus and drive about an hour and a half out into Tuscarawas County. That only makes sense if you were coming east anyway. When it does work out, you see the property, meet the parents where possible, and we go through the vaccination records, microchip registration, and guarantee at the kitchen table. The puppy leaves with a bag of the food it has been eating, a toy, and a blanket that smells like the litter.

Ground transport. A professional pet transport service drives the puppy door to door in a custom climate controlled van, in an individual carrier, with a veterinary check before departure and updates from the road. The fee to California is a flat $450, whether the address is in Santa Clarita or in , including San Fernando CA, Castaic CA, Stevenson Ranch CA, Val Verde CA, Hasley Canyon CA, and Lake Hughes CA. Vans leave on Tuesdays, and the West Coast run takes two to three days depending on the route, so treat any arrival window as approximate until it's confirmed by phone.

Flight nanny. This is the one we usually recommend for Santa Clarita. A trained handler keeps the puppy in the cabin beside them for the whole flight, never in cargo, in an airline approved soft carrier under the seat, and sends photos and video along the way. Most of these deliveries finish in a single day. Because California sits three hours behind Ohio, a morning departure often means an early afternoon handoff your time, and that handoff happens at baggage claim rather than at the gate. Los Angeles County families meet their nanny at Bobe Hope / Hollywood Burbank Airport, and Los Angeles International Airport. Flight nanny costs more than ground and is quoted per flight, since the price depends on the route and the date. The puppy needs to be at least eight weeks old, needs a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian, and needs to weigh under 20 pounds including the carrier. A Yorkshire Terrier puppy at two or three pounds isn't close to that limit, which is part of why the breed travels so well in the cabin.

Timing matters more in California than it does most places. For a midsummer arrival in Santa Clarita we aim for early in the day and ask you to have the car cool and a water bowl ready. Toy breed puppies also run their blood sugar down on a travel day, so a small meal soon after you get home matters more than it would with a bigger dog.
