Here's What We Love About Yorkies

At The Puppy House, the Yorkshire Terrier, or Yorkie, holds a special place in our hearts. This breed's gorgeous, long, silky coat sheds very little, so it's often suggested for people with allergies. For a dog that typically weighs 7 pounds or less, the Yorkie has a big-dog attitude that can be feisty and bossy. But what wins people's hearts is their sweet nature and the deep bond they form with their family. As a bonus, they love to cuddle and stay close all the time. They settle in easily with most families. If you live in the Vernon, Connecticut area, finding a reputable Yorkie breeder can be challenging, since there are so few responsible breeders nationwide. That's why we're so proud to provide families in Vernon with our carefully bred Yorkshire Terrier puppies. We want every family to have the chance to own a healthy, well-raised puppy they can count on.

Here's Why Our Puppies Are the Best

The Puppy House is dedicated to breeding and raising Yorkies the right way. We go well beyond the basic standards. Our adult dogs are all genetically tested, and they come from strong bloodlines known for wonderful temperaments. Our dogs are well cared for, with plenty of room to play and socialize.

Every puppy receives Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), which is a series of gentle handling exercises done in the first few weeks of life. Socialization matters just as much, since it lays the groundwork for good behavior and habits as they grow. Our pups play and explore in the backyard with kids, adults, and our own vaccinated adult dogs. It's excellent socialization, and it gives them lots of exercise as well.

If it works for you, we invite you to visit and pick out your puppy in person. That way, you can see our home, meet our dogs, and get to know us face to face. We take placing our Yorkies seriously, since to us it's more than a one-time sale. We love making new friends, hearing from them over the years, and watching our pups grow up in loving homes.

Each puppy leaves with their first round of vaccinations and a thorough veterinary exam completed. You can trust that you're bringing home a healthy, happy Yorkie who's ready to be part of your family.

Three Ways a Yorkie Puppy Gets to Vernon, Connecticut

Connecticut falls in our regional delivery tier, which means door to door ground transport is a flat $350 in Vernon, in , including Ellington CT, Tolland CT, Rockville CT, Bolton CT, Andover CT, and Crystal Lake CT, and everywhere else in Tolland County. This is what we recommend for most families here. A professional pet transport service drives the puppy in a climate controlled van, in an individual carrier, with a veterinary check before departure and updates along the way. Vans leave Sugarcreek on Tuesdays, and because Connecticut sits early on the East Coast route, arrival is usually the next day.

Pickup at the farm is open to anyone willing to make the drive, by appointment. From Vernon that's 486 miles by road, or 9 to 11 hours each way. It makes for a long day. You get to see where the puppy was raised, meet the litter, and go through the health records, microchip registration, and the guarantee face to face before you head home.

Flight nanny is the fastest option and the one families choose when they want the puppy quickly. A trained handler carries the puppy in the cabin in an airline approved carrier under the seat, never in cargo, and hands the puppy to you at baggage claim. Most of these finish same day. The practical arrival airports for Vernon are Bradley International Airport, and Worcester Regional Airport. The puppy has to be at least eight weeks old, under twenty pounds including the carrier, and travel with a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian. A grown Yorkshire Terrier weighs four to seven pounds, so that weight limit is never the sticking point with this breed. Flights are quoted per trip and cost more than ground, and winter weather can push a date.

We send home a bag of the food the puppy has been eating. The method, the timing, and the fee all get confirmed on a call once a puppy is reserved.
