See the Reasons We Love Yorkies

The Yorkshire Terrier, also known as the Yorkie, holds a special place in our hearts at The Puppy House. Known for their beautiful, long, silky coat, Yorkies shed very little and are often recommended for people with allergies. Yorkies usually weigh no more than 7 pounds, yet they have a big-dog attitude that can be both feisty and bossy. But their sweet temperament and the deep bond they create with their family are what win people over. Their love of snuggling and staying close all the time is the icing on the cake. They fit right in with most families. Reputable Yorkie breeders can be hard to find in the Glastonbury, Connecticut area, since there are so few responsible breeders nationwide. Because of this, we take great pride in offering our carefully bred Yorkshire Terrier puppies to families in Glastonbury. We want every family to have a healthy, well-raised puppy they can rely on.

Learn What Sets Our Puppies Apart

We breed and raise our Yorkies the right way here at The Puppy House. We aim much higher than the basics. All the adult dogs in our program are genetically tested and come from strong bloodlines known for great temperaments. Every dog we have receives excellent care and has plenty of room to play and socialize.

During their first few weeks, our puppies go through Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), a series of gentle handling exercises. Socialization is another important step that helps our puppies develop good behavior and habits as they grow. They play and explore in our backyard with kids, adults, and our vaccinated adult dogs. It's great socialization, and they get lots of exercise along the way.

We encourage you to visit us and pick out your puppy in person if you can. During your visit, you can see our home and our dogs and meet us face to face. For us, placing a Yorkie is a serious commitment and more than a one-time sale. We love making new friends along the way, keeping in touch, and watching our pups grow up in loving homes.

Every puppy gets their first round of shots and a thorough veterinary exam before going home. You can be sure you're bringing home a healthy, happy Yorkie who's ready to become part of your family.

Three Ways a Yorkie Puppy Gets to Glastonbury, Connecticut

Connecticut falls in our regional delivery tier, which means door to door ground transport is a flat $350 in Glastonbury, in , including East Hampton CT, Hebron CT, East Haddam CT, Glastonbury Center CT, Marlborough CT, Lake Pocotopaug CT, and Terramuggus CT, and everywhere else in Hartford County. This is what we recommend for most families here. A professional pet transport service drives the puppy in a climate controlled van, in an individual carrier, with a veterinary check before departure and updates along the way. Vans leave Sugarcreek on Tuesdays, and because Connecticut sits early on the East Coast route, arrival is usually the next day.

Pickup at the farm is open to anyone willing to make the drive, by appointment. From Glastonbury that's 480 miles by road, or 9 to 11 hours each way. It makes for a long day. You get to see where the puppy was raised, meet the litter, and go through the health records, microchip registration, and the guarantee face to face before you head home.

Flight nanny is the fastest option and the one families choose when they want the puppy quickly. A trained handler carries the puppy in the cabin in an airline approved carrier under the seat, never in cargo, and hands the puppy to you at baggage claim. Most of these finish same day. The practical arrival airports for Glastonbury are Bradley International Airport, and Tweed New Haven Airport. The puppy has to be at least eight weeks old, under twenty pounds including the carrier, and travel with a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian. A grown Yorkshire Terrier weighs four to seven pounds, so that weight limit is never the sticking point with this breed. Flights are quoted per trip and cost more than ground, and winter weather can push a date.

We send home a bag of the food the puppy has been eating. The method, the timing, and the fee all get confirmed on a call once a puppy is reserved.
