Discover Why We're Crazy About Yorkies

At The Puppy House, Yorkshire Terriers, or Yorkies as they're often called, have a special place in our hearts. The breed is often recommended for people with allergies thanks to its long, beautiful, silky coat that sheds very little. Yorkies typically weigh 7 pounds or less, but they have a big-dog attitude that can be feisty and bossy. But what really wins people over is their sweet nature and the deep bond they form with their family. Their love of cuddles and being near you all the time is the icing on the cake. They settle into most family homes with ease. If you live in the Pico Rivera, California area, finding a reputable Yorkie breeder can be challenging, since there are so few responsible breeders nationwide. That's why we're proud to offer families in Pico Rivera our carefully bred Yorkshire Terrier puppies. Our goal is for every family to have access to a healthy, well-raised puppy they can count on.

Why Our Puppies Are the Best Choice

We do things the right way at The Puppy House when it comes to breeding and raising Yorkies. The bar we set for ourselves is well above the basics. Our adult dogs are genetically tested and come from strong bloodlines with a reputation for great temperaments. Our dogs are well cared for and have lots of space to play and socialize.

We start every puppy on Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), a series of gentle handling exercises done in the first few weeks of life. Socialization is another important step, and it helps build good behavior and habits as our puppies grow. Out in the backyard, our puppies play and explore alongside kids, adults, and our own vaccinated adult dogs. It's excellent socialization, and it gives them lots of exercise as well.

We invite you to visit us and pick out your puppy in person if you can. During your visit, you can see our home and our dogs and meet us face to face. Placing our Yorkies in new homes is something we take seriously, and it's more than a one-time sale for us. We love making new friends and keeping in touch so we can watch our pups grow up in loving homes.

Each puppy has their first round of vaccinations and a full veterinary exam before going home. You can bring your new Yorkie home knowing they're healthy, happy, and ready to be part of your family.

Yorkie Puppy Delivery to Pico Rivera, California: Costs, Timing, and Airports

There are three ways home, and for Pico Rivera the choice is usually between the last two.

Farm pickup. Families are welcome in Sugarcreek by appointment. Driving it from Pico Rivera means 2040 miles and 40 to 42 hours behind the wheel in each direction, so the families who visit nearly always fly into Cleveland or Columbus and drive about an hour and a half out into Tuscarawas County. That only makes sense if you were coming east anyway. When it does work out, you see the property, meet the parents where possible, and we go through the vaccination records, microchip registration, and guarantee at the kitchen table. The puppy leaves with a bag of the food it has been eating, a toy, and a blanket that smells like the litter.

Ground transport. A professional pet transport service drives the puppy door to door in a custom climate controlled van, in an individual carrier, with a veterinary check before departure and updates from the road. The fee to California is a flat $450, whether the address is in Pico Rivera or in , including Montebello CA, and West Whittier-Los Nietos CA. Vans leave on Tuesdays, and the West Coast run takes two to three days depending on the route, so treat any arrival window as approximate until it's confirmed by phone.

Flight nanny. This is the one we usually recommend for Pico Rivera. A trained handler keeps the puppy in the cabin beside them for the whole flight, never in cargo, in an airline approved soft carrier under the seat, and sends photos and video along the way. Most of these deliveries finish in a single day. Because California sits three hours behind Ohio, a morning departure often means an early afternoon handoff your time, and that handoff happens at baggage claim rather than at the gate. Los Angeles County families meet their nanny at Long Beach International Airport, and Jack Northrop Field Hawthorne Municipal Airport. Flight nanny costs more than ground and is quoted per flight, since the price depends on the route and the date. The puppy needs to be at least eight weeks old, needs a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian, and needs to weigh under 20 pounds including the carrier. A Yorkshire Terrier puppy at two or three pounds isn't close to that limit, which is part of why the breed travels so well in the cabin.

Timing matters more in California than it does most places. For a midsummer arrival in Pico Rivera we aim for early in the day and ask you to have the car cool and a water bowl ready. Toy breed puppies also run their blood sugar down on a travel day, so a small meal soon after you get home matters more than it would with a bigger dog.
