Discover the Reasons We Adore Yorkies

At The Puppy House, the Yorkshire Terrier, or Yorkie, holds a special place in our hearts. This breed has a long, beautiful, silky coat and is often recommended for people with allergies because it sheds very little. While most Yorkies weigh 7 pounds or less, they have a big-dog attitude that can be feisty and bossy. But their sweet temperament and the deep bond they create with their family are what win people over. To top it off, they love to cuddle and stay close all the time. Yorkies make a wonderful fit for most families. Given how few responsible breeders there are across the country, finding reputable Yorkie breeders in the Norwich, Connecticut area can be difficult. That's why offering our carefully bred Yorkshire Terrier puppies to families in Norwich is something we take great pride in. We want every family to enjoy a healthy, well-raised puppy they can count on.

Find Out Why Our Puppies Stand Out

At The Puppy House, we make sure our Yorkies are bred and raised the right way. Meeting the basics isn't enough for us. All of our adult dogs are genetically tested, and they come from strong bloodlines known for great temperaments. Our dogs are all well cared for and have plenty of room to play and socialize.

Every puppy takes part in Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), a series of gentle handling exercises done in the first few weeks of life. Socialization is another important step, and it helps build good behavior and habits as our puppies grow. They play and explore in our backyard with kids, adults, and our vaccinated adult dogs. This playtime is great socialization, and it gives them plenty of exercise too.

Feel free to visit us and pick out your puppy in person if you can. While you're here, you can see our home and our dogs and meet us face to face. Placing our Yorkies matters to us, and we see it as more than a one-time sale. We love gaining new friends, keeping in touch, and seeing our pups grow up in loving homes.

Before going home, each puppy is given their first round of vaccinations and a thorough veterinary exam. You can be sure you're bringing home a healthy, happy Yorkie who's ready to become part of your family.

Three Ways a Yorkie Puppy Gets to Norwich, Connecticut

Connecticut falls in our regional delivery tier, which means door to door ground transport is a flat $350 in Norwich, in , including New London CT, Montville CT, Ledyard CT, Griswold CT, Preston CT, Lisbon CT, Salem CT, Jewett City CT, Sprague CT, Bozrah CT, Plainfield Village CT, and Baltic CT, and everywhere else in New London County. This is what we recommend for most families here. A professional pet transport service drives the puppy in a climate controlled van, in an individual carrier, with a veterinary check before departure and updates along the way. Vans leave Sugarcreek on Tuesdays, and because Connecticut sits early on the East Coast route, arrival is usually the next day.

Pickup at the farm is open to anyone willing to make the drive, by appointment. From Norwich that's 503 miles by road, or 9 to 11 hours each way. It makes for a long day. You get to see where the puppy was raised, meet the litter, and go through the health records, microchip registration, and the guarantee face to face before you head home.

Flight nanny is the fastest option and the one families choose when they want the puppy quickly. A trained handler carries the puppy in the cabin in an airline approved carrier under the seat, never in cargo, and hands the puppy to you at baggage claim. Most of these finish same day. The practical arrival airports for Norwich are Westerly State Airport, and Rhode Island T. F. Green International Airport. The puppy has to be at least eight weeks old, under twenty pounds including the carrier, and travel with a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian. A grown Yorkshire Terrier weighs four to seven pounds, so that weight limit is never the sticking point with this breed. Flights are quoted per trip and cost more than ground, and winter weather can push a date.

We send home a bag of the food the puppy has been eating. The method, the timing, and the fee all get confirmed on a call once a puppy is reserved.
