Find Out the Reasons We Love Yorkies

The Yorkshire Terrier, also known as the Yorkie, holds a special place in our hearts at The Puppy House. The Yorkie's long, silky coat is beautiful and low-shedding, which makes the breed a common recommendation for people with allergies. They may be tiny, typically weighing 7 pounds or less, but Yorkies have a feisty, bossy, big-dog attitude. But what truly wins people over is their sweet nature and the deep bond they form with their family. Their fondness for cuddling and staying close all the time is the icing on the cake. They fit right in with most families. There are very few responsible breeders across the country, so finding reputable Yorkie breeders in the New Britain, Connecticut area can be difficult. That's the reason we take so much pride in offering our carefully bred Yorkshire Terrier puppies to families in New Britain. Our goal is to help every family bring home a healthy, well-raised puppy they can rely on.

Discover Why Our Puppies Stand Out

At The Puppy House, we make sure our Yorkies are bred and raised the right way. We go well beyond the basic standards. Our adult dogs are genetically tested and come from strong bloodlines with great temperaments. We give our dogs great care and plenty of room to play and socialize.

We put every puppy through Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), a series of gentle handling exercises done in the first few weeks of life. Socialization is another essential step, and it lays the groundwork for good behavior and habits as puppies grow. Our puppies get to play and explore in the backyard with kids, adults, and our own vaccinated adult dogs. That playtime is great socialization, and it gives them plenty of exercise too.

We invite you to visit us and pick out your puppy in person if you can. That way, you can tour our home, see our dogs, and meet us face to face. We're careful about placing our Yorkies, and for us it's always more than a one-time sale. We love making new friends and staying in touch as our pups grow up in loving homes.

Before going home, every puppy receives their first round of vaccinations and a thorough veterinary exam. You can trust that you're bringing home a healthy, happy Yorkie who's ready to be part of your family.

Three Ways a Yorkie Puppy Gets to New Britain, Connecticut

Connecticut falls in our regional delivery tier, which means door to door ground transport is a flat $350 in New Britain, in , including Newington CT, Berlin CT, and Kensington CT, and everywhere else in Hartford County. This is what we recommend for most families here. A professional pet transport service drives the puppy in a climate controlled van, in an individual carrier, with a veterinary check before departure and updates along the way. Vans leave Sugarcreek on Tuesdays, and because Connecticut sits early on the East Coast route, arrival is usually the next day.

Pickup at the farm is open to anyone willing to make the drive, by appointment. From New Britain that's 468 miles by road, or 8 to 10 hours each way. It makes for a long day. You get to see where the puppy was raised, meet the litter, and go through the health records, microchip registration, and the guarantee face to face before you head home.

Flight nanny is the fastest option and the one families choose when they want the puppy quickly. A trained handler carries the puppy in the cabin in an airline approved carrier under the seat, never in cargo, and hands the puppy to you at baggage claim. Most of these finish same day. The practical arrival airports for New Britain are Bradley International Airport, and Tweed New Haven Airport. The puppy has to be at least eight weeks old, under twenty pounds including the carrier, and travel with a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian. A grown Yorkshire Terrier weighs four to seven pounds, so that weight limit is never the sticking point with this breed. Flights are quoted per trip and cost more than ground, and winter weather can push a date.

We send home a bag of the food the puppy has been eating. The method, the timing, and the fee all get confirmed on a call once a puppy is reserved.
