Find Out Why We Love Yorkshire Terriers

Yorkshire Terriers, also known as Yorkies, are a breed we really love at The Puppy House. Yorkies are low-shedding dogs with long, beautiful, silky coats, and they're often recommended for people with allergies. They're small, usually weighing 7 pounds or less, but Yorkies have a big-dog attitude that can be feisty and bossy. Even so, what really wins people over is their sweet nature and the strong bond they form with their family. Their fondness for cuddling and staying close all the time is the icing on the cake. They fit right in with most families. Finding a reputable Yorkie breeder near Miami Lakes, Florida can be a challenge, since there are so few responsible breeders across the country. This is why we take great pride in offering our carefully bred Yorkshire Terrier puppies to families in Miami Lakes. We want each family to have access to a healthy, well-raised puppy they can trust.

Discover Why Our Yorkie Puppies Are the Best

Breeding and raising Yorkies the right way matters to us at The Puppy House. Our standards go much further than the basics. Every adult dog we own is genetically tested and comes from strong bloodlines known for great temperaments. Our dogs are well cared for and have all the room they need to play and socialize.

Every puppy starts out with Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), a series of gentle handling exercises done over the first few weeks. Socialization is another big part of the process, and it lays the groundwork for good behavior and habits as they grow. The puppies get to play and explore in the backyard with kids, adults, and our own vaccinated adult dogs. It's great socialization, and it's a fun way for them to get exercise too.

You're invited to visit us and choose your puppy in person if you can. This gives you a chance to see our home and our dogs and meet us face to face. We take placing our Yorkies seriously, and we see it as much more than a one-time sale. We love making new friends and keeping in touch so we can watch our pups grow up in loving homes.

Before heading home, each puppy receives their first round of vaccinations and a thorough veterinary exam. You can rest assured that you're bringing home a healthy, happy Yorkie who's ready to be part of your family.

Getting Your Puppy From Sugarcreek to Miami Lakes, Florida

Families are welcome to pick up in person at the farm by appointment. From Miami Lakes that means 1010 miles on the road and 19 to 21 hours of driving each way, a two day trip for most Floridians. The families who make it come for the visit as much as the puppy, since it's the one way to walk the property, meet the parent dogs, and go over the health records and microchip registration face to face.

Ground transport is what most Florida families use. A professional pet transport service drives the puppy door to door in a climate controlled van, with an individual carrier, a veterinary check before departure, and updates along the way. Transport leaves Sugarcreek on Tuesdays, and Florida runs take two to three days depending on the route and the stops before yours. Florida falls in our regional pricing tier at a flat $350, which is the same fee we charge Pennsylvania and Georgia even though the drive is several times longer. That rate covers Miami Lakes, , including and Country Club FL, and any other address in Miami-Dade County.

Flight nanny is the answer when you want the puppy home fast. A trained handler carries the puppy in the cabin, never in cargo, and hands it to you at baggage claim. Most of these deliveries finish the same day. For Miami Lakes, nannies fly into Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport, and Miami International Airport. The puppy needs to be at least eight weeks old, under 20 pounds including the carrier, and traveling with a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian, plus some flexibility on your end if weather pushes a flight. Cost is quoted per flight rather than by tier. The farther down the peninsula you are, the faster the driving miles pile up, and the extra money can buy back a full day.

Two things about this breed are worth knowing before travel day. A grown Yorkshire Terrier tops out around seven pounds, so the 20 pound in cabin limit is never a problem, and a puppy this small can dip low on blood sugar after a long day of travel. Small frequent meals in the first days home are the fix, and we go over that with you before your puppy leaves. If you're meeting a nanny at an airport in July, park close and get the carrier into air conditioning quickly rather than letting it sit in a hot garage.
