Get to Know Why We Love Yorkies

Yorkshire Terriers, also called Yorkies, are especially close to our hearts at The Puppy House. Yorkies are often recommended for people with allergies because their long, beautiful, silky coat sheds very little. Yorkies typically weigh 7 pounds or less, but you'd never guess it from their feisty, bossy, big-dog attitude. Still, their sweet nature and the deep connection they form with their family are what really win people over. Their love of cuddling and staying close all the time is the cherry on top. They settle in easily with most families. Locating reputable Yorkie breeders in the Leyden, Illinois area can be challenging, as there are very few responsible breeders across the country. That's why it means so much to us to offer our carefully bred Yorkshire Terrier puppies to families in Leyden. Every family should have access to a healthy, well-raised puppy they can count on, and that's what we're here to provide.

Here's What Makes Our Puppies the Best

The Puppy House is dedicated to breeding and raising Yorkies the right way. The bar we set for ourselves is well above the basics. All of our adult dogs are genetically tested and come from strong bloodlines that are known for great temperaments. Our dogs are well cared for and enjoy plenty of room to play and socialize.

Our puppies each go through Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), a series of gentle handling exercises done in the first few weeks of life. Next comes socialization, another important step that lays the groundwork for good behavior and habits as they grow. Our puppies get to play and explore in the backyard with kids, adults, and our own vaccinated adult dogs. It's wonderful socialization, and they get plenty of exercise too.

If you can, we'd love for you to come see us and pick out your puppy in person. That gives you the chance to see our home and our dogs and meet us face to face. We take placing our Yorkies seriously, and to us it's more than a one-time sale. We love meeting new friends, keeping in touch, and watching our puppies grow up in loving homes.

Each puppy gets their first round of vaccinations and a thorough exam from a veterinarian before going home. You can be sure you're bringing home a healthy, happy Yorkie who's ready to become part of your family.

Yorkie Puppy Delivery to Leyden, Illinois, and What Each Option Costs

Pickup in Sugarcreek. Collect the puppy yourself, by appointment. From Leyden that's 6 to 8 hours each way. Families who make the drive see where the puppy was raised and go over the vaccination records, microchip registration, and health guarantee in person.

Home delivery by ground. Most Illinois families take this option, and it's the one we would suggest for almost any address in Cook County. A professional transport service drives the puppy door to door in a climate controlled van, in an individual carrier, with a veterinary check before departure and updates along the way. Transport leaves on Tuesdays. At $350 flat, Illinois sits in our regional tier, and since the state is one of the nearer stops heading west, most families have their puppy within a day or two of departure rather than the full three. Leyden comes up 339 miles into the route, and the same van reaches , including Franklin Park IL, Northlake IL, and Schiller Park IL.

Flight nanny. A handler carries the puppy in the cabin beside them, never in cargo, and hands it over at baggage claim. The usual arrival airports for Leyden families are Chicago O'Hare International Airport, and Chicago Midway International Airport. Nearly all of these trips wrap up inside a day. It costs more than ground transport and gets quoted per flight, since the price depends on the route and the date. The puppy has to be at least eight weeks old and under twenty pounds including the carrier, which no Yorkshire Terrier gets anywhere near, and we arrange the health certificate beforehand. Winter delays are worth planning around if you're flying a puppy into Illinois in January.

We send food along with every puppy. The method, the timing, and the price all get confirmed on a call once a puppy is reserved.
