Learn the Reasons We Love Yorkies

The Yorkshire Terrier, also known as the Yorkie, holds a special place in our hearts at The Puppy House. This breed has a long, beautiful, silky coat and is often recommended for people with allergies because it sheds very little. Most Yorkies weigh 7 pounds or less, but their big-dog attitude can be feisty and bossy. That said, what really wins people over is their sweet nature and the deep bond they form with their family. The fact that they love to cuddle and stay close all the time is the icing on the cake. Most families find that Yorkies fit right in. Finding a trustworthy Yorkie breeder in the East Haven, Connecticut area isn't easy, since there are so few responsible breeders across the country. That's why we're proud to offer families in East Haven our carefully bred Yorkshire Terrier puppies. Our aim is to give every family access to a healthy, well-raised puppy they can count on.

Learn What Sets Our Puppies Apart

We breed and raise our Yorkies the right way here at The Puppy House. We hold ourselves to a much higher standard than the basics. Our adult dogs are genetically tested and come from strong bloodlines with great temperaments. Our dogs are well cared for, with plenty of room to play and socialize.

Each of our puppies receives Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), a set of gentle handling exercises done in the first few weeks of life. Another important step is socialization, which lays the groundwork for good behavior and habits as they grow. They play and explore in our backyard with kids, adults, and our vaccinated adult dogs. It's great socialization, and they get lots of exercise along the way.

We always welcome visits, so come pick out your puppy in person if you can. That way, you can see our home and our dogs for yourself and meet us face to face. We take placing each Yorkie seriously, and we see it as more than a one-time sale. We love keeping in touch with the new friends we make and watching our pups grow up in loving homes.

Before going home, every puppy gets their first round of vaccinations and is checked thoroughly by a veterinarian. You can rest easy knowing you're bringing home a healthy, happy Yorkie who's ready to be part of your family.

Three Ways a Yorkie Puppy Gets to East Haven, Connecticut

Connecticut falls in our regional delivery tier, which means door to door ground transport is a flat $350 in East Haven, in , including and Branford CT, and everywhere else in New Haven County. This is what we recommend for most families here. A professional pet transport service drives the puppy in a climate controlled van, in an individual carrier, with a veterinary check before departure and updates along the way. Vans leave Sugarcreek on Tuesdays, and because Connecticut sits early on the East Coast route, arrival is usually the next day.

Pickup at the farm is open to anyone willing to make the drive, by appointment. From East Haven that's 462 miles by road, or 8 to 10 hours each way. It makes for a long day. You get to see where the puppy was raised, meet the litter, and go through the health records, microchip registration, and the guarantee face to face before you head home.

Flight nanny is the fastest option and the one families choose when they want the puppy quickly. A trained handler carries the puppy in the cabin in an airline approved carrier under the seat, never in cargo, and hands the puppy to you at baggage claim. Most of these finish same day. The practical arrival airports for East Haven are Tweed New Haven Airport, and Long Island MacArthur Airport. The puppy has to be at least eight weeks old, under twenty pounds including the carrier, and travel with a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian. A grown Yorkshire Terrier weighs four to seven pounds, so that weight limit is never the sticking point with this breed. Flights are quoted per trip and cost more than ground, and winter weather can push a date.

We send home a bag of the food the puppy has been eating. The method, the timing, and the fee all get confirmed on a call once a puppy is reserved.
