Discover the Reasons We Love Yorkies

Yorkshire Terriers, affectionately called Yorkies, have a special place in our hearts at The Puppy House. Yorkies have a beautiful, long, silky coat, and since they shed very little, they're often recommended for people with allergies. Yorkies usually tip the scales at 7 pounds or less, yet they have a feisty, bossy, big-dog attitude. However, what really wins people over is their sweet nature and the deep bond they form with their family. The cherry on top is their love of cuddling and staying close all the time. For most families, a Yorkie fits right in. Finding a reputable Yorkie breeder in the Branford, Connecticut area can be difficult, since there are so few responsible breeders across the country. That's why we're proud to bring our carefully bred Yorkie puppies to families in Branford. We want every family to enjoy a healthy, well-raised puppy they can count on.

Find Out What Sets Our Puppies Apart

At The Puppy House, we don't cut corners when it comes to breeding and raising Yorkies. Our standards go well past the bare minimum. All the adult dogs in our program are genetically tested and come from strong bloodlines known for great temperaments. Every one of our dogs is well cared for and has plenty of room to play and socialize.

Our puppies each go through Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), a series of gentle handling exercises done in the first few weeks of life. Another important step is socialization, which lays the groundwork for good behavior and habits as they grow. They spend time in the backyard playing and exploring with kids, adults, and our own vaccinated adult dogs. That playtime is great socialization, and it gives them plenty of exercise too.

We welcome you to visit us and pick out your puppy in person if you're able to. That way, you can see our home, meet our dogs, and get to know us face to face. We take placing our Yorkies seriously, and we see it as much more than a one-time sale. Making new friends, keeping in touch, and watching our pups grow up in loving homes are all things we love.

Before going home, each puppy receives their first set of shots and a thorough veterinary exam. You can rest easy knowing you're bringing home a healthy, happy Yorkie who's ready to be part of your family.

Three Ways a Yorkie Puppy Gets to Branford, Connecticut

Connecticut falls in our regional delivery tier, which means door to door ground transport is a flat $350 in Branford, in , including Guilford CT, and Branford Center CT, and everywhere else in New Haven County. This is what we recommend for most families here. A professional pet transport service drives the puppy in a climate controlled van, in an individual carrier, with a veterinary check before departure and updates along the way. Vans leave Sugarcreek on Tuesdays, and because Connecticut sits early on the East Coast route, arrival is usually the next day.

Pickup at the farm is open to anyone willing to make the drive, by appointment. From Branford that's 465 miles by road, or 8 to 10 hours each way. It makes for a long day. You get to see where the puppy was raised, meet the litter, and go through the health records, microchip registration, and the guarantee face to face before you head home.

Flight nanny is the fastest option and the one families choose when they want the puppy quickly. A trained handler carries the puppy in the cabin in an airline approved carrier under the seat, never in cargo, and hands the puppy to you at baggage claim. Most of these finish same day. The practical arrival airports for Branford are Tweed New Haven Airport, and Long Island MacArthur Airport. The puppy has to be at least eight weeks old, under twenty pounds including the carrier, and travel with a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian. A grown Yorkshire Terrier weighs four to seven pounds, so that weight limit is never the sticking point with this breed. Flights are quoted per trip and cost more than ground, and winter weather can push a date.

We send home a bag of the food the puppy has been eating. The method, the timing, and the fee all get confirmed on a call once a puppy is reserved.
