See Why We're Crazy About Yorkies

Yorkshire Terriers, better known as Yorkies, have a special place in our hearts here at The Puppy House. This breed's gorgeous, long, silky coat sheds very little, so it's often suggested for people with allergies. Yorkies usually tip the scales at 7 pounds or less, yet they have a feisty, bossy, big-dog attitude. But what most people love is their sweet nature and the deep bond they form with their family. The cherry on top is their love of cuddling and staying close all the time. Yorkies adapt easily to most families. Reputable Yorkie breeders are hard to come by in the Cedar Falls, Iowa area, since there are so few responsible breeders nationwide. For this reason, we're proud to offer our carefully bred Yorkie puppies to families in Cedar Falls. Every family should have access to a healthy, well-raised puppy they can count on, and that's what we're here to provide.

Why Families Love Our Puppies

At The Puppy House, breeding and raising Yorkies the right way is what we do. We aim much higher than the basics. All of our adult dogs are genetically tested and come from strong bloodlines that are known for great temperaments. Our dogs are well cared for and have plenty of space for playing and socializing.

From the start, every puppy goes through Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), a series of gentle handling exercises done in the first few weeks of life. Socialization is another key step, and it lays the groundwork for good behavior and habits as they grow. Our puppies play and explore outside in the backyard with kids, adults, and our own vaccinated adult dogs. It's excellent socialization, and it gives them lots of exercise as well.

If you can, we'd love for you to come see us and pick out your puppy in person. This way, you can see our home and our dogs and meet us face to face. We take the placement of our Yorkies seriously, and to us it's more than a one-time sale. We enjoy making new friends, keeping in touch, and watching our pups grow up in loving homes.

Before leaving for their new home, each puppy receives their first round of vaccinations and a thorough veterinary exam. You can rest assured that you're bringing home a healthy, happy Yorkie who's ready to be part of your family.

How Your Yorkie Puppy Travels to Cedar Falls, Iowa: Fees and Timing

Home delivery by ground

Cedar Falls families choose this more often than anything else, and we would suggest it first. A professional transport service drives the puppy door to door in a custom climate controlled van, with an individual carrier, a veterinary check before departure, and updates from the road. Transport leaves Sugarcreek on Tuesdays. Most families across the country have their puppy in hand within about three days of departure. Iowa is on the shorter side of that since the route runs west along the interstate corridor rather than across the country. Cedar Falls sits 576 miles into that run, and the driver works through , including Waterloo IA, Waverly IA, New Hampton IA, Hudson IA, Parkersburg IA, Reinbeck IA, Nashua IA, Clarksville IA, Shell Rock IA, Dike IA, Aplington IA, Janesville IA, and Allison IA on the same pass, along with any other Black Hawk County address. Cost is a flat $450 for the state, and no airport trip is involved.

Flight nanny

A trained handler carries the puppy in the cabin of a commercial flight and hands it over at baggage claim, never in cargo. Most of these are same day. From Cedar Falls, families usually meet the flight at Waterloo Regional Airport, and The Eastern Iowa Airport, and because there's no direct route from our corner of Ohio you should plan on a connection. The puppy needs to be at least eight weeks old, under 20 pounds including the carrier, and traveling with a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian. A Yorkshire Terrier clears the weight limit with room to spare at four to seven pounds, so the carrier is comfortable rather than tight. Flight nanny costs more than ground and gets quoted per flight, and weather delays are part of the deal.

Pickup in Sugarcreek

You're welcome to come get the puppy yourself by appointment. Cedar Falls is 11 to 13 hours out, so this is a full weekend rather than a day trip, but some families want to see where the puppy was raised and go over the records, microchip registration and guarantee in person. If you're making the drive anyway, that's the best version of the handoff.

Travel comes with one breed specific caution. Very young toy puppies can drop their blood sugar after a stressful stretch or a missed meal, so whichever method you pick, plan on small frequent meals for the first few days at home and keep the first evening quiet. Call or text us at (330) 275-4443 and we'll talk through which option makes sense for Cedar Falls.
