Discover the Reasons We Love Yorkies

Yorkshire Terriers, affectionately called Yorkies, have a special place in our hearts at The Puppy House. This breed has a beautiful, long, silky coat that sheds very little, making it a popular recommendation for people with allergies. Even though they typically weigh 7 pounds or less, Yorkies have a big-dog attitude that can be feisty and bossy. However, what really wins people over is their sweet nature and the deep bond they form with their family. Their love of snuggling and staying close all the time is the icing on the cake. They settle into most family homes with ease. Given how few responsible breeders there are across the country, finding reputable Yorkie breeders in the Bridgeport, Connecticut area can be difficult. For this reason, we're proud to offer our carefully bred Yorkie puppies to families in Bridgeport. We're committed to giving every family access to a healthy, well-raised puppy they can rely on.

Find Out What Sets Our Puppies Apart

We breed and raise our Yorkies the right way here at The Puppy House. Our standards go well beyond the basics. All of our adult dogs have been genetically tested and come from strong bloodlines known for great temperaments. Every one of our dogs is well cared for, and each has plenty of room to play and socialize.

Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), a series of gentle handling exercises done in the first few weeks of life, is part of every puppy's routine. Socialization is another important step, and it lays the groundwork for good behavior and habits as they grow. They play and explore in the backyard with kids, adults, and our own vaccinated adult dogs. They get great socialization this way, along with plenty of exercise.

We invite you to visit us and pick out your puppy in person if you can. It's a chance to see our home, meet our dogs, and get to know us face to face. We're careful about placing our Yorkies, and for us it's always more than a one-time sale. We love gaining new friends, keeping in touch, and seeing our pups grow up in loving homes.

Before heading home, each puppy receives their first round of vaccinations and a thorough veterinary exam. You can rest assured that you're bringing home a healthy, happy Yorkie who's ready to be part of your family.

Three Ways a Yorkie Puppy Gets to Bridgeport, Connecticut

Connecticut falls in our regional delivery tier, which means door to door ground transport is a flat $350 in Bridgeport, in , including and Fairfield CT, and everywhere else in Fairfield County. This is what we recommend for most families here. A professional pet transport service drives the puppy in a climate controlled van, in an individual carrier, with a veterinary check before departure and updates along the way. Vans leave Sugarcreek on Tuesdays, and because Connecticut sits early on the East Coast route, arrival is usually the next day.

Pickup at the farm is open to anyone willing to make the drive, by appointment. From Bridgeport that's 443 miles by road, or 8 to 10 hours each way. It makes for a long day. You get to see where the puppy was raised, meet the litter, and go through the health records, microchip registration, and the guarantee face to face before you head home.

Flight nanny is the fastest option and the one families choose when they want the puppy quickly. A trained handler carries the puppy in the cabin in an airline approved carrier under the seat, never in cargo, and hands the puppy to you at baggage claim. Most of these finish same day. The practical arrival airports for Bridgeport are Tweed New Haven Airport, and Long Island MacArthur Airport. The puppy has to be at least eight weeks old, under twenty pounds including the carrier, and travel with a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian. A grown Yorkshire Terrier weighs four to seven pounds, so that weight limit is never the sticking point with this breed. Flights are quoted per trip and cost more than ground, and winter weather can push a date.

We send home a bag of the food the puppy has been eating. The method, the timing, and the fee all get confirmed on a call once a puppy is reserved.
