Find Out What We Love About Yorkies

Yorkshire Terriers, or Yorkies for short, have a special place in our hearts at The Puppy House. This low-shedding breed has a long, beautiful, silky coat and is often recommended for people with allergies. Yorkies generally weigh 7 pounds or less, yet they carry themselves with a big-dog attitude that can be feisty and bossy. However, what really wins people over is their sweet nature and the deep bond they form with their family. Then there's their love of cuddling and staying close all the time, which is the icing on the cake. They fit easily into most families. There are very few responsible breeders across the country, so finding reputable Yorkie breeders in the Muscatine, Iowa area can be difficult. That's why we're so proud to offer our carefully bred Yorkshire Terrier puppies to families in Muscatine. Every family should have access to a healthy, well-raised puppy they can count on, and that's what we're here to provide.

Why Our Puppies Make the Best Companions

At The Puppy House, we take care to breed and raise our Yorkies the right way. For us, the basics are only the starting point. Each of our adult dogs is genetically tested and comes from strong bloodlines with a history of great temperaments. Our dogs are well cared for and have all the room they need to play and socialize.

All of our puppies go through Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), a series of gentle handling exercises done in the first few weeks of life. Socialization is another important piece, and it lays the groundwork for good behavior and habits as they grow. They get plenty of time to play and explore in the backyard with kids, adults, and our own vaccinated adult dogs. It's great socialization, and it gives them plenty of exercise too.

If it works for you, we invite you to visit and pick out your puppy in person. During your visit, you can see our home and our dogs and meet us face to face. We're careful about placing our Yorkies, and for us it's always more than a one-time sale. We love keeping in touch with the new friends we make and watching our pups grow up in loving homes.

Before going home, every puppy gets their first round of vaccinations and is checked thoroughly by a veterinarian. You can rest easy knowing you're bringing home a healthy, happy Yorkie who's ready to be part of your family.

How Your Yorkie Puppy Travels to Muscatine, Iowa: Fees and Timing

Home delivery by ground

Muscatine families choose this more often than anything else, and we would suggest it first. A professional transport service drives the puppy door to door in a custom climate controlled van, with an individual carrier, a veterinary check before departure, and updates from the road. Transport leaves Sugarcreek on Tuesdays. Most families across the country have their puppy in hand within about three days of departure. Iowa is on the shorter side of that since the route runs west along the interstate corridor rather than across the country. Muscatine sits 495 miles into that run, and the driver works through , including West Liberty IA, Tipton IA, Wilton IA, Wapello IA, Durant IA, Columbus Junction IA, New Boston IL, Fruitland IA, Clarence IA, Buffalo Prairie IL, Drury IL, Lowden IA, Millersburg IL, Keithsburg IL, and Grandview IA on the same pass, along with any other Muscatine County address. Cost is a flat $450 for the state, and no airport trip is involved.

Flight nanny

A trained handler carries the puppy in the cabin of a commercial flight and hands it over at baggage claim, never in cargo. Most of these are same day. From Muscatine, families usually meet the flight at Quad City International Airport, and Southeast Iowa Regional Airport, and because there's no direct route from our corner of Ohio you should plan on a connection. The puppy needs to be at least eight weeks old, under 20 pounds including the carrier, and traveling with a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian. A Yorkshire Terrier clears the weight limit with room to spare at four to seven pounds, so the carrier is comfortable rather than tight. Flight nanny costs more than ground and gets quoted per flight, and weather delays are part of the deal.

Pickup in Sugarcreek

You're welcome to come get the puppy yourself by appointment. Muscatine is 9 to 11 hours out, so this is a full weekend rather than a day trip, but some families want to see where the puppy was raised and go over the records, microchip registration and guarantee in person. If you're making the drive anyway, that's the best version of the handoff.

Travel comes with one breed specific caution. Very young toy puppies can drop their blood sugar after a stressful stretch or a missed meal, so whichever method you pick, plan on small frequent meals for the first few days at home and keep the first evening quiet. Call or text us at (330) 275-4443 and we'll talk through which option makes sense for Muscatine.
