Discover the Reasons We Adore Yorkies

The Yorkshire Terrier, also known as the Yorkie, holds a special place in our hearts at The Puppy House. The breed is often recommended for people with allergies thanks to its long, beautiful, silky coat that sheds very little. Most Yorkies weigh 7 pounds or less, but their big-dog attitude can be feisty and bossy. Still, their sweet nature and the deep connection they form with their family are what really win people over. Their love of cuddling and staying right by your side is the icing on the cake. They fit right in with most families. If you live in the North Haven, Connecticut area, finding a reputable Yorkie breeder can be challenging, since there are so few responsible breeders nationwide. Because of this, we take great pride in offering our carefully bred Yorkshire Terrier puppies to families in North Haven. We want every family to have the chance to own a healthy, well-raised puppy they can count on.

Discover Why Our Puppies Stand Out

At The Puppy House, we make sure our Yorkies are bred and raised the right way. For us, the basics are only the starting point. All of our adult dogs are genetically tested and come from strong bloodlines known for their great temperaments. Our dogs are well cared for and have plenty of space for playing and socializing.

Every puppy starts out with Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), a series of gentle handling exercises done over the first few weeks. Next comes socialization, another important step that lays the groundwork for good behavior and habits as they grow. Out in the backyard, our puppies play and explore alongside kids, adults, and our own vaccinated adult dogs. This is a great way for them to socialize, and they get plenty of exercise too.

We'd be happy to have you visit and pick out your puppy in person if you can. This way, you can see our home and our dogs and meet us face to face. We take placing our Yorkies with families seriously, and it's more than a one-time sale to us. We love making new friends along the way, keeping in touch, and watching our pups grow up in loving homes.

Each puppy receives their first round of vaccinations and a thorough veterinary exam before going home. You can be sure you're bringing home a healthy, happy Yorkie who's ready to become part of your family.

Three Ways a Yorkie Puppy Gets to North Haven, Connecticut

Connecticut falls in our regional delivery tier, which means door to door ground transport is a flat $350 in North Haven, in , including Hamden CT, and North Branford CT, and everywhere else in New Haven County. This is what we recommend for most families here. A professional pet transport service drives the puppy in a climate controlled van, in an individual carrier, with a veterinary check before departure and updates along the way. Vans leave Sugarcreek on Tuesdays, and because Connecticut sits early on the East Coast route, arrival is usually the next day.

Pickup at the farm is open to anyone willing to make the drive, by appointment. From North Haven that's 462 miles by road, or 8 to 10 hours each way. It makes for a long day. You get to see where the puppy was raised, meet the litter, and go through the health records, microchip registration, and the guarantee face to face before you head home.

Flight nanny is the fastest option and the one families choose when they want the puppy quickly. A trained handler carries the puppy in the cabin in an airline approved carrier under the seat, never in cargo, and hands the puppy to you at baggage claim. Most of these finish same day. The practical arrival airports for North Haven are Tweed New Haven Airport, and Bradley International Airport. The puppy has to be at least eight weeks old, under twenty pounds including the carrier, and travel with a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian. A grown Yorkshire Terrier weighs four to seven pounds, so that weight limit is never the sticking point with this breed. Flights are quoted per trip and cost more than ground, and winter weather can push a date.

We send home a bag of the food the puppy has been eating. The method, the timing, and the fee all get confirmed on a call once a puppy is reserved.
