Discover Why Yorkies Are So Special to Us

At The Puppy House, Yorkshire Terriers, often simply called Yorkies, are very close to our hearts. This low-shedding breed has a long, beautiful, silky coat and is often recommended for people with allergies. Even though most Yorkies weigh 7 pounds or less, they often act like big dogs, with an attitude that can be feisty and bossy. But what really wins people over is their sweet nature and the deep bond they form with their family. Their love of cuddling and staying close all the time is the icing on the cake. They tend to fit right in with most families. Tracking down a reputable Yorkie breeder in the South Kingstown, Rhode Island area can be challenging, since responsible breeders are so rare across the country. That's why we take great pride in offering our carefully bred Yorkshire Terrier puppies to families in South Kingstown. We want each family to have access to a healthy, well-raised puppy they can trust.

The Reasons Our Puppies Stand Out

At The Puppy House, we always do things the right way when it comes to breeding and raising Yorkies. Our standards go far beyond the basics. Every adult dog in our program is genetically tested and comes from strong bloodlines known for great temperaments. Our dogs are well cared for and have plenty of room to run, play, and socialize.

From the start, every puppy goes through Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), a series of gentle handling exercises done in the first few weeks of life. Socialization is just as important, and it lays the groundwork for good behavior and habits as they grow. Our puppies play and explore outside in the backyard with kids, adults, and our own vaccinated adult dogs. It's great socialization, and it keeps them active too.

Whenever possible, we invite you to visit us and pick out your puppy in person. That way, you get to see our home and our dogs and meet us face to face. For us, placing a Yorkie is a serious commitment and more than a one-time sale. We enjoy making new friends, keeping in touch, and watching our pups grow up in loving homes.

Before your puppy comes home, they receive their first round of vaccinations and a thorough veterinary exam. You can trust that you're bringing home a healthy, happy Yorkie who's ready to be part of your family.

Puppy Delivery to South Kingstown, Rhode Island: Fees and Travel Times

Your puppy comes home to South Kingstown one of three ways, and we settle on which one over the phone once the puppy is reserved rather than making you choose at checkout.

Home delivery by ground. Most Rhode Island families pick this one. A professional transport service drives the puppy door to door in a climate controlled van, with an individual carrier, a veterinary check before departure, and updates along the way. The fee to Rhode Island is $350. Transport leaves Sugarcreek on Tuesdays and comes into the state on I-95, and the state is compact enough that South Kingstown, , including Westerly RI, Narragansett RI, Richmond RI, Kingston RI, Narragansett Pier RI, Hope Valley RI, New Shoreham RI, and Carolina RI, and the rest of Washington County all sit inside a single afternoon of stops. East Coast addresses come first on the route, which usually puts arrival the day after departure. We give that as an estimate, never as a scheduled time, since routes and weather move it around.

Flight nanny. A trained handler carries the puppy in the cabin of a commercial flight, never in cargo, and hands the puppy over at baggage claim. Most flights are same day. From South Kingstown, plan around Westerly State Airport, and Rhode Island T. F. Green International Airport, and being in the smallest state has an advantage here, since no household in Rhode Island is far from a terminal. The price sits above ground delivery and gets quoted per flight, since it follows the airfare. Requirements are a puppy at least eight weeks old, under 20 pounds including the carrier, a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian, and some flexibility if weather delays a departure. A Yorkshire Terrier clears the weight limit with room to spare, which is part of why this option works so well for the breed.

Farm pickup. You're welcome to come to Sugarcreek by appointment and take the puppy home yourself. From South Kingstown that's 530 miles and 10 to 12 hours each way, so it's a weekend rather than an afternoon, but a few families make the trip because they want to see the farm and go over the records, microchip registration, and guarantee face to face.

Whichever method you choose, the puppy travels with its food, a toy, and a blanket that smells like its littermates.
