Here's What We Love About Yorkies

At The Puppy House, the Yorkshire Terrier, or Yorkie, holds a special place in our hearts. Yorkies have a beautiful, long, silky coat that sheds very little, and they're often suggested for people with allergies. Although Yorkies usually weigh no more than 7 pounds, their big-dog attitude can be feisty and bossy. Still, their sweet nature and the deep connection they form with their family are what really win people over. As a bonus, they love to cuddle and stay close all the time. They fit in well with most families. Given how few responsible breeders there are across the country, finding reputable Yorkie breeders in the Waterbury, Connecticut area can be difficult. For this reason, we're proud to offer our carefully bred Yorkie puppies to families in Waterbury. We're committed to giving every family access to a healthy, well-raised puppy they can rely on.

Here's Why Our Puppies Are the Best

The Puppy House is dedicated to breeding and raising Yorkies the right way. The standards we follow go well beyond the basics. Our adult dogs are genetically tested and come from strong bloodlines with a reputation for great temperaments. Our dogs are well cared for and have lots of space to play and socialize.

From the start, every puppy goes through Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), a series of gentle handling exercises done in the first few weeks of life. We also focus on socialization, which lays the groundwork for good behavior and habits as our puppies grow. In our backyard, the puppies play and explore with kids, adults, and our own vaccinated adult dogs. It's great socialization, and it gives them plenty of exercise too.

We'd love for you to visit us and pick out your puppy in person if you can. Visiting lets you see our home and our dogs and meet us face to face. We're serious about placing our Yorkies, and for us it's more than a one-time sale. We love making new friends and staying in touch as our pups grow up in loving homes.

Before going home, every puppy receives their first round of vaccinations and a thorough veterinary exam. You can trust that you're bringing home a healthy, happy Yorkie who's ready to be part of your family.

Three Ways a Yorkie Puppy Gets to Waterbury, Connecticut

Connecticut falls in our regional delivery tier, which means door to door ground transport is a flat $350 in Waterbury, in , including Naugatuck CT, Watertown CT, and Middlebury CT, and everywhere else in New Haven County. This is what we recommend for most families here. A professional pet transport service drives the puppy in a climate controlled van, in an individual carrier, with a veterinary check before departure and updates along the way. Vans leave Sugarcreek on Tuesdays, and because Connecticut sits early on the East Coast route, arrival is usually the next day.

Pickup at the farm is open to anyone willing to make the drive, by appointment. From Waterbury that's 453 miles by road, or 8 to 10 hours each way. It makes for a long day. You get to see where the puppy was raised, meet the litter, and go through the health records, microchip registration, and the guarantee face to face before you head home.

Flight nanny is the fastest option and the one families choose when they want the puppy quickly. A trained handler carries the puppy in the cabin in an airline approved carrier under the seat, never in cargo, and hands the puppy to you at baggage claim. Most of these finish same day. The practical arrival airports for Waterbury are Tweed New Haven Airport, and Bradley International Airport. The puppy has to be at least eight weeks old, under twenty pounds including the carrier, and travel with a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian. A grown Yorkshire Terrier weighs four to seven pounds, so that weight limit is never the sticking point with this breed. Flights are quoted per trip and cost more than ground, and winter weather can push a date.

We send home a bag of the food the puppy has been eating. The method, the timing, and the fee all get confirmed on a call once a puppy is reserved.
