Learn Why We Love Yorkies

Yorkshire Terriers, also known as Yorkies, have a special place in our hearts at The Puppy House. Yorkies are low-shedding dogs with long, beautiful, silky coats, and they're often recommended for people with allergies. They may be tiny, typically weighing 7 pounds or less, but Yorkies have a feisty, bossy, big-dog attitude. Still, their sweet nature and the deep connection they form with their family are what really win people over. To top it off, they love to cuddle and stay close all the time. They're well suited to most families. Searching for a reputable Yorkie breeder in the Tampa, Florida area can be challenging, given how few responsible breeders there are nationwide. That's why we're proud to bring our carefully bred Yorkie puppies to families in Tampa. Every family should have access to a healthy, well-raised puppy they can count on, and that's what we're here to provide.

Why Our Puppies Are a Cut Above

At The Puppy House, we do things the right way when it comes to breeding and raising Yorkies. We aim much higher than the basics. We make sure all of our adult dogs are genetically tested and come from strong bloodlines known for great temperaments. Our dogs are well cared for and enjoy plenty of room to play and socialize.

Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), a series of gentle handling exercises done in the first few weeks of life, is part of every puppy's routine. Socialization is another big part of the process, and it lays the groundwork for good behavior and habits as they grow. Our pups play and explore in the backyard with kids, adults, and our own vaccinated adult dogs. This is a great way for them to socialize, and they get plenty of exercise too.

If possible, we invite you to come visit us and choose your puppy in person. It's a chance to see our home, meet our dogs, and get to know us face to face. We take placing our Yorkies seriously, since to us it's more than a one-time sale. We love making new friends, keeping in touch, and seeing our puppies grow up in loving homes.

Every puppy gets their first round of vaccinations and a thorough veterinary exam before going home. You can rest easy knowing you're bringing home a healthy, happy Yorkie who's ready to be part of your family.

Getting Your Puppy From Sugarcreek to Tampa, Florida

Families are welcome to pick up in person at the farm by appointment. From Tampa that means 868 miles on the road and 16 to 18 hours of driving each way, a two day trip for most Floridians. The families who make it come for the visit as much as the puppy, since it's the one way to walk the property, meet the parent dogs, and go over the health records and microchip registration face to face.

Ground transport is what most Florida families use. A professional pet transport service drives the puppy door to door in a climate controlled van, with an individual carrier, a veterinary check before departure, and updates along the way. Transport leaves Sugarcreek on Tuesdays, and Florida runs take two to three days depending on the route and the stops before yours. Florida falls in our regional pricing tier at a flat $350, which is the same fee we charge Pennsylvania and Georgia even though the drive is several times longer. That rate covers Tampa, , including and Palm River-Clair Mel FL, and any other address in Hillsborough County.

Flight nanny is the answer when you want the puppy home fast. A trained handler carries the puppy in the cabin, never in cargo, and hands it to you at baggage claim. Most of these deliveries finish the same day. For Tampa, nannies fly into Tampa International Airport, and St. Petersburg Clearwater International Airport. The puppy needs to be at least eight weeks old, under 20 pounds including the carrier, and traveling with a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian, plus some flexibility on your end if weather pushes a flight. Cost is quoted per flight rather than by tier. The farther down the peninsula you are, the faster the driving miles pile up, and the extra money can buy back a full day.

Two things about this breed are worth knowing before travel day. A grown Yorkshire Terrier tops out around seven pounds, so the 20 pound in cabin limit is never a problem, and a puppy this small can dip low on blood sugar after a long day of travel. Small frequent meals in the first days home are the fix, and we go over that with you before your puppy leaves. If you're meeting a nanny at an airport in July, park close and get the carrier into air conditioning quickly rather than letting it sit in a hot garage.
