Here's Why We Adore Yorkies

At The Puppy House, the Yorkshire Terrier, or Yorkie, holds a special place in our hearts. Their coat is long, silky, and beautiful, and because it sheds very little, Yorkies are often recommended for people with allergies. While most Yorkies weigh 7 pounds or less, they have a big-dog attitude that can be feisty and bossy. But what really wins people over is their sweet nature and the close bond they build with their family. The fact that they love to cuddle and stay close all the time is the icing on the cake. They settle in easily with most families. There are very few responsible breeders across the country, so finding reputable Yorkie breeders in the Stamford, Connecticut area can be difficult. This is why we're proud to make our carefully bred Yorkie puppies available to families in Stamford. Our goal is to help every family bring home a healthy, well-raised puppy they can rely on.

See Why Our Puppies Stand Out

The Puppy House is dedicated to breeding and raising Yorkies the right way. Our standards go well beyond the basics. Our adult dogs are genetically tested and come from strong bloodlines with a reputation for great temperaments. Each of our dogs is well cared for and has plenty of room to play and socialize.

Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), a series of gentle handling exercises done in the first few weeks of life, is part of every puppy's routine. Socialization is another important piece, and it lays the groundwork for good behavior and habits as they grow. They spend time in the backyard playing and exploring with kids, adults, and our own vaccinated adult dogs. They get great socialization this way, along with plenty of exercise.

If you're able to, we'd love for you to visit and choose your puppy in person. That way, you can see our home, meet our dogs, and get to know us face to face. For us, placing a Yorkie is a serious commitment and more than a one-time sale. We love meeting new friends, keeping in touch, and watching our puppies grow up in loving homes.

Before any puppy goes home, they receive their first round of vaccinations and a thorough veterinary exam. You can bring your new Yorkie home knowing they're healthy, happy, and ready to be part of your family.

Three Ways a Yorkie Puppy Gets to Stamford, Connecticut

Connecticut falls in our regional delivery tier, which means door to door ground transport is a flat $350 in Stamford, in , including Darien CT, Riverside CT, Old Greenwich CT, and Scotts Corners NY, and everywhere else in Fairfield County. This is what we recommend for most families here. A professional pet transport service drives the puppy in a climate controlled van, in an individual carrier, with a veterinary check before departure and updates along the way. Vans leave Sugarcreek on Tuesdays, and because Connecticut sits early on the East Coast route, arrival is usually the next day.

Pickup at the farm is open to anyone willing to make the drive, by appointment. From Stamford that's 425 miles by road, or 8 to 10 hours each way. It makes for a long day. You get to see where the puppy was raised, meet the litter, and go through the health records, microchip registration, and the guarantee face to face before you head home.

Flight nanny is the fastest option and the one families choose when they want the puppy quickly. A trained handler carries the puppy in the cabin in an airline approved carrier under the seat, never in cargo, and hands the puppy to you at baggage claim. Most of these finish same day. The practical arrival airports for Stamford are Westchester County Airport, and LaGuardia Airport. The puppy has to be at least eight weeks old, under twenty pounds including the carrier, and travel with a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian. A grown Yorkshire Terrier weighs four to seven pounds, so that weight limit is never the sticking point with this breed. Flights are quoted per trip and cost more than ground, and winter weather can push a date.

We send home a bag of the food the puppy has been eating. The method, the timing, and the fee all get confirmed on a call once a puppy is reserved.
