Why We Love Yorkies

Everyone at The Puppy House has a soft spot for Yorkshire Terriers, also known as Yorkies. Yorkies have a long, beautiful, silky coat and are often recommended for people with allergies because they shed very little. For a dog that typically weighs 7 pounds or less, the Yorkie has a big-dog attitude that can be feisty and bossy. But what really wins people over is their sweet nature and the deep bond they form with their family. On top of that, they love to cuddle and stay close all the time. They fit easily into most families. It's not always easy to find reputable Yorkie breeders in the Sierra Vista, Arizona area, because responsible breeders are scarce across the country. That's why we take great pride in making our carefully bred Yorkshire Terrier puppies available to families in Sierra Vista. Every family should have access to a healthy, well-raised puppy they can count on, and that's what we're here to provide.

See Why Our Puppies Are the Best

At The Puppy House, we're committed to breeding and raising Yorkies the right way. We go far beyond the minimum standards. All of our adult dogs have been genetically tested, and each comes from strong bloodlines known for great temperaments. Every one of our dogs is well cared for, and each has plenty of room to play and socialize.

Our puppies each go through Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), a series of gentle handling exercises done in the first few weeks of life. Socialization is another important step, and it lays the groundwork for good behavior and habits as they grow. Our puppies enjoy playing and exploring in the backyard with kids, adults, and our own vaccinated adult dogs. It's wonderful socialization, and they get plenty of exercise too.

If you can, we invite you to visit us and pick out your puppy in person. You'll be able to look around our home, see our dogs, and meet us face to face. Every Yorkie we place matters to us, and it's never just a one-time sale. We love making new friends and keeping in touch so we can watch our pups grow up in loving homes.

Each puppy leaves with their first round of vaccinations and a thorough veterinary exam completed. You can trust that you're bringing home a healthy, happy Yorkie who's ready to be part of your family.

Getting a Yorkie Puppy to Sierra Vista, Arizona

There are three ways to bring a puppy home to Sierra Vista, and we settle on one by phone after the puppy is reserved rather than at checkout.

Flight nanny. For Sierra Vista this is usually the one we point families toward. A trained handler carries the puppy in the cabin of a commercial flight, under the seat in an airline approved soft carrier, never in cargo. Most of these trips finish the same day. A Yorkshire Terrier weighs four to seven pounds full grown, so a puppy plus carrier sits far under the 20 pound cabin limit, which makes this breed one of the easiest to fly. The puppy needs to be at least eight weeks old and have a health certificate from a licensed vet, both of which we arrange. For Cochise County families, nannies fly into Tucson International Airport, and Mesa Gateway Airport, and the handoff happens at baggage claim. Pricing is quoted per flight since it follows airfare.

Home delivery by ground. A professional transport service drives the puppy door to door in a climate controlled van, with an individual carrier, a pre trip vet check, and updates along the way. Arizona falls in our national tier at a flat $450, and that's the price in Sierra Vista as well as in , including Douglas AZ, Sierra Vista Southeast AZ, Bisbee AZ, Benson AZ, Willcox AZ, Lordsburg NM, Whetstone AZ, Huachuca City AZ, Pirtleville AZ, Mescal AZ, Tombstone AZ, St. David AZ, Naco AZ, Patagonia AZ, Sonoita AZ, Duncan AZ, Miracle Valley AZ, and York AZ. Transports leave on Tuesdays, and with 1708 miles of road between the farm and your door, the run usually takes two to three days depending on the route. The van stays cool the whole way, which matters more here than almost anywhere.

Pickup in Sugarcreek. You're welcome to come get the puppy yourself by appointment. It's 33 to 35 hours of driving from Sierra Vista, so nobody does it as a simple errand, but a few families build it into a trip east and like walking the property and going through the health records at the kitchen table.

There's one Arizona specific thing to plan for. Yorkie puppies can drop low on blood sugar after a stressful day of travel, so plan on a small meal soon after the handoff and a few more that first day, and keep water in front of the puppy. Between the desert heat and dry air, that first evening at home should be quiet and indoors.
