Discover Why We're So Fond of Yorkies

Here at The Puppy House, Yorkshire Terriers, also called Yorkies, hold a special place in our hearts. Known for their beautiful, long, silky coat, Yorkies shed very little and are often recommended for people with allergies. They may be tiny, typically weighing 7 pounds or less, but Yorkies have a feisty, bossy, big-dog attitude. Yet what really wins people over is their sweet disposition and the deep bond they form with their family. As a bonus, they love to cuddle and stay close all the time. They usually fit right in with most families. It can be challenging to find reputable Yorkie breeders in the San Jose, California area, since responsible breeders are few and far between across the country. Because of this, we take great pride in offering our carefully bred Yorkshire Terrier puppies to families in San Jose. We believe every family deserves access to a healthy, well-raised puppy they can count on.

Why So Many Families Choose Our Puppies

At The Puppy House, breeding and raising Yorkies the right way is what we do. We expect much more from ourselves than the basics. Every adult dog we own is genetically tested and comes from strong bloodlines known for great temperaments. Each dog in our care is well looked after and has plenty of room to play and socialize.

Every puppy we raise goes through Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), a series of gentle handling exercises done in the first weeks of life. Socialization is another important piece, and it lays the groundwork for good behavior and habits as they grow. Our puppies get to play and explore in the backyard with kids, adults, and our own vaccinated adult dogs. This time outside is great socialization, and it gives them plenty of exercise too.

Feel free to visit us and pick out your puppy in person if you can. During your visit, you can see our home and our dogs and meet us face to face. We take placing each Yorkie seriously, and we see it as more than a one-time sale. We love making new friends and keeping in touch so we can watch our pups grow up in loving homes.

Every puppy has their first round of vaccinations and a thorough veterinary exam before going to their new home. You can rest easy knowing you're bringing home a healthy, happy Yorkie who's ready to be part of your family.

Yorkie Puppy Delivery to San Jose, California: Costs, Timing, and Airports

There are three ways home, and for San Jose the choice is usually between the last two.

Farm pickup. Families are welcome in Sugarcreek by appointment. Driving it from San Jose means 2157 miles and 42 to 44 hours behind the wheel in each direction, so the families who visit nearly always fly into Cleveland or Columbus and drive about an hour and a half out into Tuscarawas County. That only makes sense if you were coming east anyway. When it does work out, you see the property, meet the parents where possible, and we go through the vaccination records, microchip registration, and guarantee at the kitchen table. The puppy leaves with a bag of the food it has been eating, a toy, and a blanket that smells like the litter.

Ground transport. A professional pet transport service drives the puppy door to door in a custom climate controlled van, in an individual carrier, with a veterinary check before departure and updates from the road. The fee to California is a flat $450, whether the address is in San Jose or in , including Santa Clara CA, Alum Rock CA, and East Foothills CA. Vans leave on Tuesdays, and the West Coast run takes two to three days depending on the route, so treat any arrival window as approximate until it's confirmed by phone.

Flight nanny. This is the one we usually recommend for San Jose. A trained handler keeps the puppy in the cabin beside them for the whole flight, never in cargo, in an airline approved soft carrier under the seat, and sends photos and video along the way. Most of these deliveries finish in a single day. Because California sits three hours behind Ohio, a morning departure often means an early afternoon handoff your time, and that handoff happens at baggage claim rather than at the gate. Santa Clara County families meet their nanny at Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport, and San Carlos Airport. Flight nanny costs more than ground and is quoted per flight, since the price depends on the route and the date. The puppy needs to be at least eight weeks old, needs a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian, and needs to weigh under 20 pounds including the carrier. A Yorkshire Terrier puppy at two or three pounds isn't close to that limit, which is part of why the breed travels so well in the cabin.

Timing matters more in California than it does most places. For a midsummer arrival in San Jose we aim for early in the day and ask you to have the car cool and a water bowl ready. Toy breed puppies also run their blood sugar down on a travel day, so a small meal soon after you get home matters more than it would with a bigger dog.
