Learn Why We Adore Yorkies

Yorkshire Terriers, often called Yorkies, hold a special place in our hearts at The Puppy House. Yorkies have a long, beautiful, silky coat and are often recommended for people with allergies because they shed very little. Even at 7 pounds or less, Yorkies have a big-dog attitude that can come across as feisty and bossy. That said, what really wins people over is their sweet nature and the deep bond they form with their family. The fact that they love to cuddle and stay close all the time is the icing on the cake. They're a great match for most families. Finding a reputable Yorkie breeder in the Russellville, Arkansas area can be difficult, since there are so few responsible breeders across the country. That's the reason we take so much pride in offering our carefully bred Yorkshire Terrier puppies to families in Russellville. We're committed to giving every family access to a healthy, well-raised puppy they can rely on.

What Makes Our Puppies Stand Out

At The Puppy House, we believe in doing things the right way when it comes to breeding and raising Yorkies. Our standards go well beyond the basics. All of our adult dogs have been genetically tested, and each comes from strong bloodlines known for great temperaments. Each dog in our care is well looked after and has plenty of room to play and socialize.

Every puppy starts out with Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), a series of gentle handling exercises done over the first few weeks. Socialization is another essential step, and it lays the groundwork for good behavior and habits as puppies grow. We let our puppies play and explore in the backyard with kids, adults, and our own vaccinated adult dogs. It's great socialization, plus it gives them plenty of exercise.

Whenever possible, we invite you to visit us and pick out your puppy in person. While you're here, you can see our home and our dogs and meet us face to face. We take great care in placing our Yorkies, and to us it's more than a one-time sale. Our favorite part is making new friends, keeping in touch, and watching our pups grow up in loving homes.

Each puppy gets their first round of vaccinations and a thorough exam from a veterinarian before going home. You can be sure you're bringing home a healthy, happy Yorkie who's ready to become part of your family.

How Your Yorkie Puppy Travels to Russellville, Arkansas

Three ways run from Sugarcreek to Russellville, and the right one depends mostly on how soon you want the puppy home and how you feel about a long drive.

Home delivery by ground

Most Russellville families choose this. A professional pet transport service drives the puppy door to door in a custom climate controlled van, each puppy in a carrier of its own, with a veterinary check before the van pulls out and word from the driver as it travels. Transport leaves Sugarcreek on Tuesdays. The flat fee to Arkansas is $450, and with Russellville 722 miles out, most families have the puppy in their arms about two days after departure, sometimes three depending on the route the van takes. Drivers on that trip also stop in , including Clarksville AR, Dardanelle AR, Paris AR, Pottsville AR, Atkins AR, Danville AR, Lamar AR, Dover AR, Marshall AR, Ola AR, London AR, Coal Hill AR, Knoxville AR, Plainview AR, Subiaco AR, and Hartman AR, so the price doesn't move if you're elsewhere in Pope County or a few miles outside town.

For a puppy this small, the van has one advantage worth naming. Young Yorkies need frequent small meals to keep their blood sugar steady, and a ground transport schedule builds those stops in.

Flight nanny

A trained handler carries the puppy in the cabin of a commercial flight, never in cargo, in an airline approved soft carrier under the seat, and hands the puppy to you at baggage claim. Most flight nanny deliveries are done the same day. From Russellville, the airports that make sense for a handoff are Memorial Field Airport, and Bill & Hillary Clinton National Airport/Adams Field.

Yorkshire Terriers clear the in cabin requirements easily, since the limit is 20 pounds including the carrier and an eight week old Yorkie weighs a couple of pounds. The puppy has to be at least eight weeks old and traveling with a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian. You need a little flexibility in case weather delays a flight. Flight nanny is quoted per trip and costs more than ground delivery.

Pickup at the farm

You're welcome to come to Sugarcreek by appointment, meet the puppy where it was raised, and go over the vaccination records, microchip registration, and health guarantee at the kitchen table. From Russellville that's 13 to 15 hours of driving each way, so realistically two days on the road plus a hotel. Some families make a trip of it. Most don't, and that's fine.

What we usually suggest for Russellville

Ground delivery is the answer for nearly everyone. At $450 it is the least complicated option, it costs less than a flight nanny, and nobody has to drive to an airport with a carrier. If you would rather have the puppy home in one day instead of two, ask about a flight nanny when we talk. The method, the timing, and the fee all get settled on the phone after the puppy is reserved.
