Why Yorkies Mean So Much to Us

Yorkshire Terriers, also known as Yorkies, are a breed we really love at The Puppy House. This breed has a long, beautiful, silky coat and is often recommended for people with allergies because it sheds very little. Most Yorkies weigh 7 pounds or less, but their big-dog attitude can be feisty and bossy. But what really wins people over is their sweet nature and the close bond they build with their family. Their fondness for cuddling and staying close all the time is the icing on the cake. They slip right into family life in most homes. Locating reputable Yorkie breeders in the Lake Magdalene, Florida area can be challenging, as there are very few responsible breeders across the country. That's exactly why we take great pride in offering our carefully bred Yorkie puppies to families in Lake Magdalene. It matters to us that every family has access to a healthy, well-raised puppy they can count on.

What Sets Our Yorkie Puppies Apart

Breeding and raising Yorkies the right way matters to us at The Puppy House. The standards we follow go well beyond the basics. All of our adult dogs are genetically tested and come from strong bloodlines known for great temperaments. We give our dogs great care and plenty of room to play and socialize.

Our puppies all go through Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), which involves gentle handling exercises in the first few weeks of life. Another important step is socialization, which helps our puppies build good behavior and habits as they grow. They spend time in the backyard playing and exploring with kids, adults, and our own vaccinated adult dogs. This helps with socialization and gives them plenty of exercise too.

We welcome you to visit us and pick out your puppy in person if you're able to. It's a great chance to see our home and our dogs and meet us face to face. We take placing each Yorkie seriously, and we see it as more than a one-time sale. We love meeting new friends, keeping in touch, and watching our puppies grow up in loving homes.

Every puppy gets their first round of vaccinations and a thorough veterinary exam before going home. You can rest easy knowing you're bringing home a healthy, happy Yorkie who's ready to be part of your family.

Getting Your Puppy From Sugarcreek to Lake Magdalene, Florida

Families are welcome to pick up in person at the farm by appointment. From Lake Magdalene that means 859 miles on the road and 16 to 18 hours of driving each way, a two day trip for most Floridians. The families who make it come for the visit as much as the puppy, since it's the one way to walk the property, meet the parent dogs, and go over the health records and microchip registration face to face.

Ground transport is what most Florida families use. A professional pet transport service drives the puppy door to door in a climate controlled van, with an individual carrier, a veterinary check before departure, and updates along the way. Transport leaves Sugarcreek on Tuesdays, and Florida runs take two to three days depending on the route and the stops before yours. Florida falls in our regional pricing tier at a flat $350, which is the same fee we charge Pennsylvania and Georgia even though the drive is several times longer. That rate covers Lake Magdalene, , including University FL, Carrollwood FL, and Northdale FL, and any other address in Hillsborough County.

Flight nanny is the answer when you want the puppy home fast. A trained handler carries the puppy in the cabin, never in cargo, and hands it to you at baggage claim. Most of these deliveries finish the same day. For Lake Magdalene, nannies fly into Tampa International Airport, and St. Petersburg Clearwater International Airport. The puppy needs to be at least eight weeks old, under 20 pounds including the carrier, and traveling with a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian, plus some flexibility on your end if weather pushes a flight. Cost is quoted per flight rather than by tier. The farther down the peninsula you are, the faster the driving miles pile up, and the extra money can buy back a full day.

Two things about this breed are worth knowing before travel day. A grown Yorkshire Terrier tops out around seven pounds, so the 20 pound in cabin limit is never a problem, and a puppy this small can dip low on blood sugar after a long day of travel. Small frequent meals in the first days home are the fix, and we go over that with you before your puppy leaves. If you're meeting a nanny at an airport in July, park close and get the carrier into air conditioning quickly rather than letting it sit in a hot garage.
