Learn Why We Love Yorkshire Terriers

Yorkshire Terriers, also known as Yorkies, are a breed we really love at The Puppy House. Yorkies have a beautiful, long, silky coat that sheds very little, and they're often suggested for people with allergies. Don't let their size fool you. Yorkies typically weigh 7 pounds or less, but they have a feisty, bossy, big-dog attitude. But what really wins people over is their sweet nature and the deep bond they form with their family. Their love of snuggling and staying close all the time is the icing on the cake. They quickly become part of most families. Tracking down a reputable Yorkie breeder in the Fresno, California area can be challenging, since responsible breeders are so rare across the country. Because of this, we take great pride in offering our carefully bred Yorkshire Terrier puppies to families in Fresno. Our mission is to help every family find a healthy, well-raised puppy they can count on.

Discover Why Our Yorkie Puppies Are the Best

At The Puppy House, we care about breeding and raising Yorkies the right way. Our standards go far beyond the basics. All of our adult dogs are genetically tested, and they come from strong bloodlines known for great temperaments. Our dogs are well cared for, with plenty of room to play and socialize.

Every puppy receives Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), which is a series of gentle handling exercises done in the first few weeks of life. Socialization is another important step that lays the groundwork for good behavior and habits as our puppies grow. Out in the backyard, our puppies play and explore alongside kids, adults, and our own vaccinated adult dogs. It's great socialization, and they get lots of exercise along the way.

We welcome you to visit us and pick out your puppy in person if you're able to. That way, you can check out our home and our dogs and meet us face to face. Placing our Yorkies is something we take seriously, and to us it's more than a one-time sale. We love making new friends, keeping in touch, and seeing our puppies grow up in loving homes.

Before going home, each puppy is given their first round of vaccinations and a thorough veterinary exam. You can be sure you're bringing home a healthy, happy Yorkie who's ready to become part of your family.

Yorkie Puppy Delivery to Fresno, California: Costs, Timing, and Airports

There are three ways home, and for Fresno the choice is usually between the last two.

Farm pickup. Families are welcome in Sugarcreek by appointment. Driving it from Fresno means 2059 miles and 40 to 42 hours behind the wheel in each direction, so the families who visit nearly always fly into Cleveland or Columbus and drive about an hour and a half out into Tuscarawas County. That only makes sense if you were coming east anyway. When it does work out, you see the property, meet the parents where possible, and we go through the vaccination records, microchip registration, and guarantee at the kitchen table. The puppy leaves with a bag of the food it has been eating, a toy, and a blanket that smells like the litter.

Ground transport. A professional pet transport service drives the puppy door to door in a custom climate controlled van, in an individual carrier, with a veterinary check before departure and updates from the road. The fee to California is a flat $450, whether the address is in Fresno or in , including Clovis CA, Madera CA, Old Fig Garden CA, Mayfair CA, Sunnyside CA, Caruthers CA, Calwa CA, Easton CA, Malaga CA, and West Park CA. Vans leave on Tuesdays, and the West Coast run takes two to three days depending on the route, so treat any arrival window as approximate until it's confirmed by phone.

Flight nanny. This is the one we usually recommend for Fresno. A trained handler keeps the puppy in the cabin beside them for the whole flight, never in cargo, in an airline approved soft carrier under the seat, and sends photos and video along the way. Most of these deliveries finish in a single day. Because California sits three hours behind Ohio, a morning departure often means an early afternoon handoff your time, and that handoff happens at baggage claim rather than at the gate. Fresno County families meet their nanny at Fresno Yosemite International Airport, and Merced Regional Macready Field. Flight nanny costs more than ground and is quoted per flight, since the price depends on the route and the date. The puppy needs to be at least eight weeks old, needs a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian, and needs to weigh under 20 pounds including the carrier. A Yorkshire Terrier puppy at two or three pounds isn't close to that limit, which is part of why the breed travels so well in the cabin.

Timing matters more in California than it does most places. For a midsummer arrival in Fresno we aim for early in the day and ask you to have the car cool and a water bowl ready. Toy breed puppies also run their blood sugar down on a travel day, so a small meal soon after you get home matters more than it would with a bigger dog.
