Find Out Why We Love Yorkies

Yorkshire Terriers, also known as Yorkies, have a special place in our hearts at The Puppy House. Yorkies have a beautiful, long, silky coat, and since they shed very little, they're often recommended for people with allergies. For a dog that typically weighs 7 pounds or less, the Yorkie has a big-dog attitude that can be feisty and bossy. But their sweet nature and the deep bond they form with their family are what really win people over. Plus, they love cuddling and staying close all the time, which makes them even more special. They fit in well with most families. In the Fort Wayne, Indiana area, reputable Yorkie breeders can be tough to find, since there are so few responsible breeders across the country. That's why we take great pride in making our carefully bred Yorkshire Terrier puppies available to families in Fort Wayne. We want every family to have a healthy, well-raised puppy they can rely on.

Why Our Puppies Stand Out

At The Puppy House, we do things the right way when it comes to breeding and raising Yorkies. Meeting the basics isn't enough for us. All of our adult dogs are genetically tested, and they come from strong bloodlines known for great temperaments. Our dogs are all well cared for and have plenty of room to play and socialize.

In the first few weeks of life, every puppy goes through Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), a series of gentle handling exercises. Socialization is another important step, and it builds the foundation for good behavior and habits as they grow. Our pups play and explore in the backyard with kids, adults, and our own vaccinated adult dogs. It's great socialization, and it keeps them active too.

We encourage you to visit us and pick out your puppy in person if you can. You'll be able to see our home and our dogs and meet us face to face. Placing our Yorkies is something we take seriously, and to us it's more than a one-time sale. We love forming new friendships, staying in touch, and seeing our pups grow up in loving homes.

Before going home, each puppy is given their first round of vaccinations and a thorough veterinary exam. You can rest assured that you're bringing home a healthy, happy Yorkie who's ready to be part of your family.

What Delivery to Fort Wayne, Indiana Costs and How Long It Takes

Indiana is one of the few states where all three options make sense, so it's worth reading through before you decide what fits Fort Wayne.

Farm pickup

You drive to Sugarcreek by appointment. The puppy goes home with you the same day. From Fort Wayne that's 188 miles, or 3 to 5 hours each way. You get to see where the puppy was raised, go over the vaccination records and microchip registration with us face to face, and leave with a bag of the food the puppy has been eating, a toy, and a blanket that smells like the litter.

Home delivery by ground

A professional pet transport service drives the puppy to your door in a climate controlled van, in an individual carrier, with a veterinary check before departure and updates along the way. Indiana falls in our regional tier at a flat $350, and Allen County is no exception, whether the address is in Fort Wayne or over in , including New Haven IN, Auburn IN, Bluffton IN, Kendallville IN, Decatur IN, Columbia City IN, Angola IN, Bryan OH, Huntertown IN, Garrett IN, Berne IN, Leo-Cedarville IN, Paulding OH, Hicksville OH, Ossian IN, Carryall OH, St. Joseph OH, Butler IN, Avilla IN, Albion IN, Pulaski OH, Waterloo IN, Fremont IN, Tully OH, Churubusco IN, Edgerton OH, Tri-Lakes IN, South Whitley IN, Roanoke IN, Antwerp OH, Woodburn IN, Harlan IN, Hamilton IN, Willshire OH, Rome City IN, Geneva IN, Monroeville IN, Superior OH, Grabill IN, Payne OH, Markle IN, Wolcottville IN, Convoy OH, Ashley IN, Hoagland IN, Farmer OH, Monroe IN, Mark OH, Edon OH, Emerald OH, Blue Creek OH, Zanesville IN, Black Creek OH, and Hudson IN. Transport leaves on Tuesdays, and because your state is one of the shorter legs on the route, Indiana stops tend to come early in the run. Most families across the country have their puppy within about three days of departure. We confirm the timing on the phone rather than promising a date in writing.

Flight nanny

A trained handler carries the puppy in the cabin beside them, never in cargo, and hands it to you at baggage claim. Most of these are done in a single day. For Fort Wayne, the workable arrival points are Fort Wayne International Airport, and South Bend International Airport. The puppy needs to be at least eight weeks old, under twenty pounds including the carrier, and traveling with a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian. Flight nanny costs more than ground and is quoted per flight, so we price it out once we know the airport.

What we usually suggest

If 3 to 5 hours each way sounds like a long day rather than an overnight, come get the puppy yourself. Meeting the litter is worth the drive. If it sounds like more car time than you want, ground delivery is the better fit, and it costs the same from anywhere in the state. One scheduling note that catches people out: most of Indiana runs on Eastern time, but the counties up by Chicago and the ones around Evansville are on Central, so we confirm arrival windows in your local time before anyone sets off.

We send you off with the food the puppy already knows. Walk on a harness rather than a collar from day one, in the carrier and out of it, because this breed is prone to tracheal problems and neck pressure is the easiest part of that to avoid.
