See Why Yorkies Are So Special to Us

Few breeds are as close to our hearts at The Puppy House as the Yorkshire Terrier, also known as the Yorkie. This breed has a beautiful, long, silky coat that sheds very little, making it a popular recommendation for people with allergies. A Yorkie typically weighs 7 pounds or less but has a big-dog attitude that can be feisty and bossy. Still, their sweet nature and the deep connection they form with their family are what really win people over. Then there's their love of cuddling and staying close all the time, which is the icing on the cake. For most families, a Yorkie fits right in. Families in the Fleming Island, Florida area often find it challenging to locate a reputable Yorkie breeder, since there are so few responsible breeders nationwide. That's what makes us so proud to offer our carefully bred Yorkshire Terrier puppies to families in Fleming Island. We want every family to be able to bring home a healthy, well-raised puppy they can count on.

Why Our Puppies Are the Ones to Choose

At The Puppy House, we always do things the right way when it comes to breeding and raising Yorkies. We hold our program to standards well beyond the basics. All of our adult dogs have been genetically tested, and each comes from strong bloodlines known for great temperaments. Our dogs are well cared for and have plenty of room to run, play, and socialize.

Every puppy goes through Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), a series of gentle handling exercises done in the first few weeks of life. Socialization is another key step, and it lays the groundwork for good behavior and habits as they grow. Our puppies play and explore in the backyard with kids, adults, and our own vaccinated adult dogs. This playtime is great socialization, and it gives them plenty of exercise too.

You're invited to visit us and choose your puppy in person if you can. During your visit, you can see our home and our dogs and meet us face to face. We take great care in placing our Yorkies, and to us it's more than a one-time sale. We enjoy making new friends, keeping in touch, and watching our pups grow up in loving homes.

Every puppy has had their first round of vaccinations and a thorough veterinary exam by the time they go home. You can rest easy knowing you're bringing home a healthy, happy Yorkie who's ready to be part of your family.

Getting Your Puppy From Sugarcreek to Fleming Island, Florida

Families are welcome to pick up in person at the farm by appointment. From Fleming Island that means 718 miles on the road and 13 to 15 hours of driving each way, a two day trip for most Floridians. The families who make it come for the visit as much as the puppy, since it's the one way to walk the property, meet the parent dogs, and go over the health records and microchip registration face to face.

Ground transport is what most Florida families use. A professional pet transport service drives the puppy door to door in a climate controlled van, with an individual carrier, a veterinary check before departure, and updates along the way. Transport leaves Sugarcreek on Tuesdays, and Florida runs take two to three days depending on the route and the stops before yours. Florida falls in our regional pricing tier at a flat $350, which is the same fee we charge Pennsylvania and Georgia even though the drive is several times longer. That rate covers Fleming Island, , including Fruit Cove FL, Lakeside FL, Green Cove Springs FL, Orange Park FL, and Penney Farms FL, and any other address in Clay County.

Flight nanny is the answer when you want the puppy home fast. A trained handler carries the puppy in the cabin, never in cargo, and hands it to you at baggage claim. Most of these deliveries finish the same day. For Fleming Island, nannies fly into Northeast Florida Regional Airport, and Jacksonville International Airport. The puppy needs to be at least eight weeks old, under 20 pounds including the carrier, and traveling with a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian, plus some flexibility on your end if weather pushes a flight. Cost is quoted per flight rather than by tier. The farther down the peninsula you are, the faster the driving miles pile up, and the extra money can buy back a full day.

Two things about this breed are worth knowing before travel day. A grown Yorkshire Terrier tops out around seven pounds, so the 20 pound in cabin limit is never a problem, and a puppy this small can dip low on blood sugar after a long day of travel. Small frequent meals in the first days home are the fix, and we go over that with you before your puppy leaves. If you're meeting a nanny at an airport in July, park close and get the carrier into air conditioning quickly rather than letting it sit in a hot garage.
