Find Out Why Yorkies Have Our Hearts

Yorkshire Terriers, often called Yorkies, hold a special place in our hearts at The Puppy House. The breed is often recommended for people with allergies thanks to its long, beautiful, silky coat that sheds very little. Yorkies typically weigh 7 pounds or less, but you'd never guess it from their feisty, bossy, big-dog attitude. What really wins people over, though, is their sweet nature and the deep bond they form with their family. As a bonus, they love to cuddle and stay close all the time. They usually fit right in with most families. In the Fargo, North Dakota area, reputable Yorkie breeders can be tough to find, since there are so few responsible breeders across the country. For this reason, we're proud to offer our carefully bred Yorkie puppies to families in Fargo. Our hope is that every family can have a healthy, well-raised puppy they can count on.

What Sets Our Puppies Apart

At The Puppy House, we believe in doing things the right way when it comes to breeding and raising Yorkies. Our standards go much further than the basics. Every adult dog in our program is genetically tested and comes from strong bloodlines known for great temperaments. Our dogs are all well cared for and have plenty of room to play and socialize.

During their first few weeks, our puppies go through Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), a series of gentle handling exercises. Socialization is also an important step, since it lays the groundwork for good behavior and habits as puppies grow. They get plenty of time to play and explore in the backyard with kids, adults, and our own vaccinated adult dogs. It's great socialization, plus it gives them plenty of exercise.

If it works for you, we invite you to visit and pick out your puppy in person. This way, you can see our home and our dogs and meet us face to face. Placing our Yorkies is something we take seriously, and to us it's more than a one-time sale. We love making new friends, hearing from them over the years, and watching our pups grow up in loving homes.

Every puppy has their first round of vaccinations and a thorough veterinary exam before going to their new home. You can rest easy knowing you're bringing home a healthy, happy Yorkie who's ready to be part of your family.

Getting a Yorkshire Terrier Puppy Home to Fargo, North Dakota

Three routes are open to Fargo, and we settle on one by phone after the puppy is reserved rather than making you pick at checkout.

Home delivery by ground transport is what most North Dakota families choose and what we would suggest first. A professional pet transport service brings the puppy door to door in a climate controlled van, in a carrier of its own, with a veterinary check before departure and updates from the road. Transport leaves Sugarcreek on Tuesdays. The drive to Fargo is 874 miles, approximately 16 to 18 hours one way, and most families have their puppy in hand within about three days of departure. Cost is $450 anywhere in North Dakota, so the miles cost you nothing extra whether you're in Fargo, in , including Moorhead MN, West Fargo ND, and Halstad MN, or somewhere else in Cass County.

Flight nanny is the faster option. A trained handler carries the puppy in the cabin beside them in an airline approved soft carrier, never in cargo, and hands the puppy to you at baggage claim. Most of them close out same day. For a Fargo handoff we would look at Hector International Airport, and Grand Forks International Airport, and there's no nonstop service from our part of Ohio, so expect the nanny to route through a connection. Requirements are eight weeks minimum, under 20 pounds with the carrier, and a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian. This option is quoted per flight rather than at a flat rate, and winter weather delays are part of the deal in this state, so some flexibility on the date helps.

Farm pickup is welcome by appointment if you happen to be traveling east anyway. It's a long haul to make on purpose from Fargo, but families who do it get to see where the puppy grew up and go over the records, microchip registration, and guarantee in person.

The length of this trip makes one thing matter more than it usually would. A Yorkshire Terrier puppy is small enough that a missed meal after travel can drop its blood sugar, so whichever method you use, plan on small frequent meals for the first few days at home and keep the schedule steady. We go over this on the phone before the puppy leaves.
