Why Yorkies Mean So Much to Us

Yorkshire Terriers, or Yorkies as most people call them, are near and dear to our hearts at The Puppy House. The breed is often recommended for people with allergies thanks to its long, beautiful, silky coat that sheds very little. They may be tiny, typically weighing 7 pounds or less, but Yorkies have a feisty, bossy, big-dog attitude. But what really wins people over is their sweet nature and the deep bond they form with their family. Their fondness for cuddling and staying close all the time is the icing on the cake. They make a great fit for most families. Since there are so few responsible breeders across the country, finding reputable Yorkie breeders in the Escondido, California area can be challenging. This is why we take great pride in offering our carefully bred Yorkshire Terrier puppies to families in Escondido. We believe every family deserves access to a healthy, well-raised puppy they can count on.

What Sets Our Yorkie Puppies Apart

Breeding and raising Yorkies the right way matters to us at The Puppy House. Our standards are much higher than what's required. Every adult dog we own is genetically tested and comes from strong bloodlines known for great temperaments. We give our dogs great care and plenty of room to play and socialize.

All our puppies receive Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), a series of gentle handling exercises we do in the first few weeks of life. Another important step is socialization, which helps our puppies build good behavior and habits as they grow. In the backyard, our puppies play and explore with kids, adults, and our own vaccinated adult dogs. This playtime is great socialization, and it gives them plenty of exercise too.

If you can, we'd love for you to come see us and pick out your puppy in person. This way, you can see our home and our dogs and meet us face to face. We don't take placing our Yorkies lightly, and to us it's more than a one-time sale. It means a lot to us to make new friends, keep in touch, and watch our pups grow up in loving homes.

Before any puppy goes home, they receive their first round of vaccinations and a thorough veterinary exam. You can rest assured that you're bringing home a healthy, happy Yorkie who's ready to be part of your family.

Yorkie Puppy Delivery to Escondido, California: Costs, Timing, and Airports

There are three ways home, and for Escondido the choice is usually between the last two.

Farm pickup. Families are welcome in Sugarcreek by appointment. Driving it from Escondido means 2012 miles and 39 to 41 hours behind the wheel in each direction, so the families who visit nearly always fly into Cleveland or Columbus and drive about an hour and a half out into Tuscarawas County. That only makes sense if you were coming east anyway. When it does work out, you see the property, meet the parents where possible, and we go through the vaccination records, microchip registration, and guarantee at the kitchen table. The puppy leaves with a bag of the food it has been eating, a toy, and a blanket that smells like the litter.

Ground transport. A professional pet transport service drives the puppy door to door in a custom climate controlled van, in an individual carrier, with a veterinary check before departure and updates from the road. The fee to California is a flat $450, whether the address is in Escondido or in , including San Marcos CA, and Valley Center CA. Vans leave on Tuesdays, and the West Coast run takes two to three days depending on the route, so treat any arrival window as approximate until it's confirmed by phone.

Flight nanny. This is the one we usually recommend for Escondido. A trained handler keeps the puppy in the cabin beside them for the whole flight, never in cargo, in an airline approved soft carrier under the seat, and sends photos and video along the way. Most of these deliveries finish in a single day. Because California sits three hours behind Ohio, a morning departure often means an early afternoon handoff your time, and that handoff happens at baggage claim rather than at the gate. San Diego County families meet their nanny at McClellan-Palomar Airport, and San Diego International Airport. Flight nanny costs more than ground and is quoted per flight, since the price depends on the route and the date. The puppy needs to be at least eight weeks old, needs a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian, and needs to weigh under 20 pounds including the carrier. A Yorkshire Terrier puppy at two or three pounds isn't close to that limit, which is part of why the breed travels so well in the cabin.

Timing matters more in California than it does most places. For a midsummer arrival in Escondido we aim for early in the day and ask you to have the car cool and a water bowl ready. Toy breed puppies also run their blood sugar down on a travel day, so a small meal soon after you get home matters more than it would with a bigger dog.
