Find Out Why Yorkies Mean So Much to Us

Yorkshire Terriers, or Yorkies as most people call them, are near and dear to our hearts at The Puppy House. This breed has a beautiful, long, silky coat that sheds very little, making it a popular recommendation for people with allergies. Most Yorkies weigh 7 pounds or less, but their big-dog attitude can be feisty and bossy. However, what really wins people over is their sweet nature and the deep bond they form with their family. Even better, they love to cuddle and stay close all the time. They make a great fit for most families. Locating reputable Yorkie breeders in the El Cerrito, California area can be challenging, as there are very few responsible breeders across the country. For this reason, we're proud to offer our carefully bred Yorkie puppies to families in El Cerrito. It matters to us that every family has access to a healthy, well-raised puppy they can count on.

What Makes Our Yorkie Puppies the Best

At The Puppy House, we pride ourselves on breeding and raising Yorkies the right way. The bar we set for ourselves is well above the basics. Our adult dogs come from strong bloodlines known for great temperaments, and all of them are genetically tested. Every one of our dogs is well cared for, and each has plenty of room to play and socialize.

Every puppy receives Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), which is a series of gentle handling exercises done in the first few weeks of life. Socialization is another important step, and it lays the groundwork for good behavior and habits as they grow. They spend time in the backyard playing and exploring with kids, adults, and our own vaccinated adult dogs. This helps with socialization and gives them plenty of exercise too.

We always welcome visits, so come pick out your puppy in person if you can. This way, you can see our home and our dogs and meet us face to face. We take placing our Yorkies seriously, and we see it as much more than a one-time sale. We enjoy making new friends, staying in touch, and seeing our pups grow up in loving homes.

Before going home, each puppy is given their first round of vaccinations and a thorough veterinary exam. You can be sure you're bringing home a healthy, happy Yorkie who's ready to become part of your family.

Yorkie Puppy Delivery to El Cerrito, California: Costs, Timing, and Airports

There are three ways home, and for El Cerrito the choice is usually between the last two.

Farm pickup. Families are welcome in Sugarcreek by appointment. Driving it from El Cerrito means 2166 miles and 42 to 44 hours behind the wheel in each direction, so the families who visit nearly always fly into Cleveland or Columbus and drive about an hour and a half out into Tuscarawas County. That only makes sense if you were coming east anyway. When it does work out, you see the property, meet the parents where possible, and we go through the vaccination records, microchip registration, and guarantee at the kitchen table. The puppy leaves with a bag of the food it has been eating, a toy, and a blanket that smells like the litter.

Ground transport. A professional pet transport service drives the puppy door to door in a custom climate controlled van, in an individual carrier, with a veterinary check before departure and updates from the road. The fee to California is a flat $450, whether the address is in El Cerrito or in , including Berkeley CA, Kensington CA, and East Richmond Heights CA. Vans leave on Tuesdays, and the West Coast run takes two to three days depending on the route, so treat any arrival window as approximate until it's confirmed by phone.

Flight nanny. This is the one we usually recommend for El Cerrito. A trained handler keeps the puppy in the cabin beside them for the whole flight, never in cargo, in an airline approved soft carrier under the seat, and sends photos and video along the way. Most of these deliveries finish in a single day. Because California sits three hours behind Ohio, a morning departure often means an early afternoon handoff your time, and that handoff happens at baggage claim rather than at the gate. Contra Costa County families meet their nanny at San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport, and Buchanan Field. Flight nanny costs more than ground and is quoted per flight, since the price depends on the route and the date. The puppy needs to be at least eight weeks old, needs a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian, and needs to weigh under 20 pounds including the carrier. A Yorkshire Terrier puppy at two or three pounds isn't close to that limit, which is part of why the breed travels so well in the cabin.

Timing matters more in California than it does most places. For a midsummer arrival in El Cerrito we aim for early in the day and ask you to have the car cool and a water bowl ready. Toy breed puppies also run their blood sugar down on a travel day, so a small meal soon after you get home matters more than it would with a bigger dog.
