What We Love About Yorkies

At The Puppy House, we have a soft spot for Yorkshire Terriers, better known as Yorkies. Yorkies have a long, beautiful, silky coat and are often recommended for people with allergies because they shed very little. Small as they are at 7 pounds or less, Yorkies have a big-dog attitude that can be feisty and bossy. Still, their sweet nature and the deep connection they form with their family are what really win people over. Their love of cuddling and being close by all the time is the icing on the cake. Yorkies make a wonderful fit for most families. Tracking down a reputable Yorkie breeder in the Dothan, Alabama area can be challenging, since responsible breeders are so rare across the country. That's exactly why we take great pride in offering our carefully bred Yorkie puppies to families in Dothan. We want every family to be able to bring home a healthy, well-raised puppy they can count on.

Find Out What Makes Our Puppies the Best

Breeding and raising Yorkies the right way is what we're all about at The Puppy House. We go far beyond the minimum standards. All of our adult dogs are genetically tested, and they come from strong bloodlines known for great temperaments. Our dogs are well cared for, with plenty of room to play and socialize.

Every puppy is given Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), a series of gentle handling exercises done early in life. Socialization is another important step that helps our puppies develop good behavior and habits as they grow. We let our puppies play and explore in the backyard with kids, adults, and our own vaccinated adult dogs. This time outside is great socialization, and it gives them plenty of exercise too.

You're invited to visit us and choose your puppy in person if you can. That way, you can see our home and our dogs and meet us face to face. We take placing our Yorkies to heart, and to us it's more than a one-time sale. We love making new friends along the way, keeping in touch, and watching our pups grow up in loving homes.

Before leaving for their new home, each puppy receives their first round of vaccinations and a thorough veterinary exam. You can bring your new Yorkie home knowing they're healthy, happy, and ready to be part of your family.

Yorkie Puppy Delivery to Dothan, Alabama

Ground transport is how nearly every Dothan family brings a puppy home, and it's a flat $350 to any address in Alabama, Dale County included. A driver carries the puppy door to door in a climate controlled van, in an individual carrier, and sends updates along the way. Vans leave Sugarcreek on Tuesdays. Most families have their puppy within about three days of departure, and with Dothan sitting 673 miles from the farm, plan on two to three days rather than an overnight arrival. The same run reaches , including Enterprise AL, Marianna FL, Headland AL, Blakely GA, Chipley FL, Clayton AL, Bonifay FL, Abbeville AL, Donalsonville GA, Taylor AL, Midland City AL, Kinsey AL, Ashford AL, Graceville FL, Cowarts AL, Malone FL, Slocomb AL, Colquitt GA, Rehobeth AL, Webb AL, Malvern AL, Newton AL, Cottonwood AL, Fort Gaines GA, Cottondale FL, Grand Ridge FL, Columbia AL, Greenwood FL, Pinckard AL, Grimes AL, Avon AL, and Newville AL, so the fee and the timing hold if you live just outside town. Toy breed pups can dip in blood sugar after travel, so meals stay small and frequent on the road and a bag of the food it's been eating goes along.

Farm pickup is open to anyone by appointment. From Dothan the drive is 12 to 14 hours each way, which for most families means a night somewhere along the route rather than a single day out and back. What the miles buy you is a walk around the property, a look at the parents, and the health records and microchip registration gone over in person.

Flight nanny is the third route. A handler carries the puppy in the cabin, never in cargo, and hands it over at baggage claim, usually the same day. For Dothan, the arrivals we would look at are Dothan Regional Airport, and Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport. Cost is quoted per flight and runs higher than ground, since it depends on the route and airline that day. A veterinary health certificate gets arranged ahead of travel, and the puppy needs to be at least eight weeks old and under 20 pounds including the carrier, a limit no Yorkie will ever test.

For Dothan, ground transport is the sensible pick. If 12 to 14 hours behind the wheel sounds like a fair trade for meeting us and seeing the farm, the drive up is worth thinking about on a free weekend, and if you'd rather have the puppy home the same day, ask us to price out a flight.
