Why We Love Yorkshire Terriers

At The Puppy House, Yorkshire Terriers, also known as Yorkies, are a breed that's very dear to us. Yorkies have a beautiful, long, silky coat, and since they shed very little, they're often recommended for people with allergies. Even at 7 pounds or less, Yorkies have a big-dog attitude that can come across as feisty and bossy. Still, it's their sweet nature and the deep bond they share with their family that win most people over. To top it off, they love to cuddle and stay close all the time. They slip right into family life in most homes. Finding a reputable Yorkie breeder in the Palm City, Florida area can be difficult, since there are so few responsible breeders across the country. That's what makes us so proud to offer our carefully bred Yorkshire Terrier puppies to families in Palm City. Our hope is that every family can have a healthy, well-raised puppy they can count on.

See What Sets Our Yorkie Puppies Apart

At The Puppy House, we care about breeding and raising Yorkies the right way. We aim much higher than the basics. We only work with genetically tested adult dogs from strong bloodlines known for great temperaments. Our dogs are well cared for, with plenty of room to play and socialize.

Our puppies each go through Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), a series of gentle handling exercises done in the first few weeks of life. Socialization is just as important, and it lays the groundwork for good behavior and habits as they grow. They play and explore in our backyard with kids, adults, and our vaccinated adult dogs. This gives them great socialization and plenty of exercise at the same time.

If you can, we invite you to visit us and pick out your puppy in person. That way, you can see our home and our dogs and meet us face to face. We take the placement of our Yorkies seriously, and to us it's more than a one-time sale. Nothing makes us happier than making new friends, keeping in touch, and watching our pups grow up in loving homes.

Our puppies receive their first round of vaccinations and a thorough veterinary exam before they go home. You can trust that you're bringing home a healthy, happy Yorkie who's ready to be part of your family.

Getting Your Puppy From Sugarcreek to Palm City, Florida

Families are welcome to pick up in person at the farm by appointment. From Palm City that means 924 miles on the road and 17 to 19 hours of driving each way, a two day trip for most Floridians. The families who make it come for the visit as much as the puppy, since it's the one way to walk the property, meet the parent dogs, and go over the health records and microchip registration face to face.

Ground transport is what most Florida families use. A professional pet transport service drives the puppy door to door in a climate controlled van, with an individual carrier, a veterinary check before departure, and updates along the way. Transport leaves Sugarcreek on Tuesdays, and Florida runs take two to three days depending on the route and the stops before yours. Florida falls in our regional pricing tier at a flat $350, which is the same fee we charge Pennsylvania and Georgia even though the drive is several times longer. That rate covers Palm City, , including Port St. Lucie FL, Stuart FL, Jensen Beach FL, Port Salerno FL, Indiantown FL, North River Shores FL, Sewall's Point FL, and Rio FL, and any other address in Martin County.

Flight nanny is the answer when you want the puppy home fast. A trained handler carries the puppy in the cabin, never in cargo, and hands it to you at baggage claim. Most of these deliveries finish the same day. For Palm City, nannies fly into Vero Beach Regional Airport, and Palm Beach International Airport. The puppy needs to be at least eight weeks old, under 20 pounds including the carrier, and traveling with a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian, plus some flexibility on your end if weather pushes a flight. Cost is quoted per flight rather than by tier. The farther down the peninsula you are, the faster the driving miles pile up, and the extra money can buy back a full day.

Two things about this breed are worth knowing before travel day. A grown Yorkshire Terrier tops out around seven pounds, so the 20 pound in cabin limit is never a problem, and a puppy this small can dip low on blood sugar after a long day of travel. Small frequent meals in the first days home are the fix, and we go over that with you before your puppy leaves. If you're meeting a nanny at an airport in July, park close and get the carrier into air conditioning quickly rather than letting it sit in a hot garage.
