Learn Why We Love Yorkies

Yorkshire Terriers, also known as Yorkies, have a special place in our hearts at The Puppy House. Yorkies are low-shedding dogs with long, beautiful, silky coats, and they're often recommended for people with allergies. Yorkies typically weigh 7 pounds or less, but you'd never guess it from their feisty, bossy, big-dog attitude. But underneath that attitude, what really wins people over is their sweet nature and the deep bond they form with their family. The fact that they love to cuddle and stay close all the time is the icing on the cake. They adapt well to most families. With so few responsible breeders across the country, finding a reputable Yorkie breeder in the Isla Vista, California area can be a challenge. That's exactly why we take great pride in offering our carefully bred Yorkie puppies to families in Isla Vista. Every family deserves a healthy, well-raised puppy they can count on.

Why Our Puppies Are a Cut Above

At The Puppy House, we do things the right way when it comes to breeding and raising Yorkies. Our standards are set well above the minimum. All of our adult dogs are genetically tested, and they come from strong bloodlines known for great temperaments. We give our dogs great care and plenty of room to play and socialize.

Every puppy starts out with Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), a series of gentle handling exercises done over the first few weeks. Socialization is another big part of the process, and it lays the groundwork for good behavior and habits as they grow. Our pups play and explore in the backyard with kids, adults, and our own vaccinated adult dogs. It's great socialization, and it's good exercise for them too.

Feel free to visit us and pick out your puppy in person if you can. That way, you can see our home and our dogs for yourself and meet us face to face. We take placing our Yorkies with families seriously, and it's more than a one-time sale to us. We love gaining new friends, keeping in touch, and seeing our pups grow up in loving homes.

Before heading home, each puppy receives their first round of vaccinations and a thorough veterinary exam. You can be sure you're bringing home a healthy, happy Yorkie who's ready to become part of your family.

Yorkie Puppy Delivery to Isla Vista, California: Costs, Timing, and Airports

There are three ways home, and for Isla Vista the choice is usually between the last two.

Farm pickup. Families are welcome in Sugarcreek by appointment. Driving it from Isla Vista means 2121 miles and 41 to 43 hours behind the wheel in each direction, so the families who visit nearly always fly into Cleveland or Columbus and drive about an hour and a half out into Tuscarawas County. That only makes sense if you were coming east anyway. When it does work out, you see the property, meet the parents where possible, and we go through the vaccination records, microchip registration, and guarantee at the kitchen table. The puppy leaves with a bag of the food it has been eating, a toy, and a blanket that smells like the litter.

Ground transport. A professional pet transport service drives the puppy door to door in a custom climate controlled van, in an individual carrier, with a veterinary check before departure and updates from the road. The fee to California is a flat $450, whether the address is in Isla Vista or in , including Goleta CA, Santa Ynez CA, and Ballard CA. Vans leave on Tuesdays, and the West Coast run takes two to three days depending on the route, so treat any arrival window as approximate until it's confirmed by phone.

Flight nanny. This is the one we usually recommend for Isla Vista. A trained handler keeps the puppy in the cabin beside them for the whole flight, never in cargo, in an airline approved soft carrier under the seat, and sends photos and video along the way. Most of these deliveries finish in a single day. Because California sits three hours behind Ohio, a morning departure often means an early afternoon handoff your time, and that handoff happens at baggage claim rather than at the gate. Santa Barbara County families meet their nanny at Santa Barbara Municipal Airport, and Santa Maria Public Airport Captain G Allan Hancock Field. Flight nanny costs more than ground and is quoted per flight, since the price depends on the route and the date. The puppy needs to be at least eight weeks old, needs a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian, and needs to weigh under 20 pounds including the carrier. A Yorkshire Terrier puppy at two or three pounds isn't close to that limit, which is part of why the breed travels so well in the cabin.

Timing matters more in California than it does most places. For a midsummer arrival in Isla Vista we aim for early in the day and ask you to have the car cool and a water bowl ready. Toy breed puppies also run their blood sugar down on a travel day, so a small meal soon after you get home matters more than it would with a bigger dog.
