Learn Why We Adore Yorkies

At The Puppy House, Yorkshire Terriers, also known as Yorkies, hold a special place in our hearts. Yorkies have a beautiful, long, silky coat that sheds very little, and they're often suggested for people with allergies. Although they typically weigh 7 pounds or less, Yorkies have a big-dog attitude that can be feisty and bossy. But the real reason people fall for Yorkies is their sweet nature and the deep bond they form with their family. Their love of snuggling and staying close all the time is the icing on the cake. Yorkies adapt easily to most families. Finding a trustworthy Yorkie breeder in the Lompoc, California area isn't easy, since there are so few responsible breeders across the country. This is why we're proud to make our carefully bred Yorkie puppies available to families in Lompoc. Our goal is to help every family bring home a healthy, well-raised puppy they can rely on.

What Makes Our Puppies Stand Out

When it comes to breeding and raising Yorkies, we do things the right way at The Puppy House. The bar we set for ourselves is well above the basics. Our adult dogs come from strong bloodlines known for great temperaments, and all of them are genetically tested. Our dogs are well cared for and have plenty of room to run, play, and socialize.

Each puppy goes through Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), a series of gentle handling exercises done in the first few weeks of life. Socialization is another important step, and it helps build good behavior and habits as our puppies grow. Our puppies play and explore outside in the backyard with kids, adults, and our own vaccinated adult dogs. It's great socialization, plus it gives them plenty of exercise.

Whenever possible, we invite you to visit us and pick out your puppy in person. That way, you can see our home and our dogs and meet us face to face. We treat placing our Yorkies as more than a one-time sale, and we take it seriously. We love meeting new friends, keeping in touch, and watching our puppies grow up in loving homes.

Before leaving for their new home, each puppy receives their first round of vaccinations and a thorough veterinary exam. You can rest assured that you're bringing home a healthy, happy Yorkie who's ready to be part of your family.

Yorkie Puppy Delivery to Lompoc, California: Costs, Timing, and Airports

There are three ways home, and for Lompoc the choice is usually between the last two.

Farm pickup. Families are welcome in Sugarcreek by appointment. Driving it from Lompoc means 2147 miles and 42 to 44 hours behind the wheel in each direction, so the families who visit nearly always fly into Cleveland or Columbus and drive about an hour and a half out into Tuscarawas County. That only makes sense if you were coming east anyway. When it does work out, you see the property, meet the parents where possible, and we go through the vaccination records, microchip registration, and guarantee at the kitchen table. The puppy leaves with a bag of the food it has been eating, a toy, and a blanket that smells like the litter.

Ground transport. A professional pet transport service drives the puppy door to door in a custom climate controlled van, in an individual carrier, with a veterinary check before departure and updates from the road. The fee to California is a flat $450, whether the address is in Lompoc or in , including Vandenberg Village CA, Solvang CA, Buellton CA, Mission Hills CA, Vandenberg AFB CA, and Los Olivos CA. Vans leave on Tuesdays, and the West Coast run takes two to three days depending on the route, so treat any arrival window as approximate until it's confirmed by phone.

Flight nanny. This is the one we usually recommend for Lompoc. A trained handler keeps the puppy in the cabin beside them for the whole flight, never in cargo, in an airline approved soft carrier under the seat, and sends photos and video along the way. Most of these deliveries finish in a single day. Because California sits three hours behind Ohio, a morning departure often means an early afternoon handoff your time, and that handoff happens at baggage claim rather than at the gate. Santa Barbara County families meet their nanny at Santa Maria Public Airport Captain G Allan Hancock Field, and Santa Barbara Municipal Airport. Flight nanny costs more than ground and is quoted per flight, since the price depends on the route and the date. The puppy needs to be at least eight weeks old, needs a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian, and needs to weigh under 20 pounds including the carrier. A Yorkshire Terrier puppy at two or three pounds isn't close to that limit, which is part of why the breed travels so well in the cabin.

Timing matters more in California than it does most places. For a midsummer arrival in Lompoc we aim for early in the day and ask you to have the car cool and a water bowl ready. Toy breed puppies also run their blood sugar down on a travel day, so a small meal soon after you get home matters more than it would with a bigger dog.
