Learn Why We Adore Yorkies

Yorkshire Terriers, often called Yorkies, hold a special place in our hearts at The Puppy House. This breed has a beautiful, long, silky coat and sheds very little, which is why it's often recommended for people with allergies. Yorkies usually tip the scales at 7 pounds or less, yet they have a feisty, bossy, big-dog attitude. But what really wins people over is their sweet nature and the close bond they build with their family. Their love of cuddling and staying right by your side is the icing on the cake. They usually fit right in with most families. It can be challenging to find reputable Yorkie breeders in the Madera, California area, since responsible breeders are few and far between across the country. That's why we take great pride in bringing our carefully bred Yorkshire Terrier puppies to families in Madera. Our hope is that every family can have a healthy, well-raised puppy they can count on.

What Makes Our Puppies Stand Out

When it comes to breeding and raising Yorkies, we do things the right way at The Puppy House. Our standards go well past the bare minimum. All the adult dogs in our program are genetically tested and come from strong bloodlines known for great temperaments. Our dogs get great care and plenty of room to play and socialize.

Every puppy takes part in Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), a series of gentle handling exercises done in the first few weeks of life. Socialization is another important step that lays the groundwork for good behavior and habits as our puppies grow. Our puppies explore and play in the backyard with kids, adults, and our own vaccinated adult dogs. This is great socialization, and it gives them plenty of exercise too.

If you can, we'd love for you to come see us and pick out your puppy in person. It's a chance to see our home, meet our dogs, and get to know us face to face. We take placing our Yorkies seriously, since to us it's more than a one-time sale. We love making new friends along the way, keeping in touch, and watching our pups grow up in loving homes.

Before leaving for their new home, each puppy receives their first round of vaccinations and a thorough veterinary exam. You can bring your new Yorkie home knowing they're healthy, happy, and ready to be part of your family.

Yorkie Puppy Delivery to Madera, California: Costs, Timing, and Airports

There are three ways home, and for Madera the choice is usually between the last two.

Farm pickup. Families are welcome in Sugarcreek by appointment. Driving it from Madera means 2069 miles and 40 to 42 hours behind the wheel in each direction, so the families who visit nearly always fly into Cleveland or Columbus and drive about an hour and a half out into Tuscarawas County. That only makes sense if you were coming east anyway. When it does work out, you see the property, meet the parents where possible, and we go through the vaccination records, microchip registration, and guarantee at the kitchen table. The puppy leaves with a bag of the food it has been eating, a toy, and a blanket that smells like the litter.

Ground transport. A professional pet transport service drives the puppy door to door in a custom climate controlled van, in an individual carrier, with a veterinary check before departure and updates from the road. The fee to California is a flat $450, whether the address is in Madera or in , including Chowchilla CA, Kerman CA, Mendota CA, Madera Acres CA, Firebaugh CA, Yosemite Lakes CA, San Joaquin CA, Ahwahnee CA, Parksdale CA, Parkwood CA, Biola CA, Midpines CA, Mariposa CA, Yosemite Valley CA, Fairmead CA, Tranquillity CA, and Bootjack CA. Vans leave on Tuesdays, and the West Coast run takes two to three days depending on the route, so treat any arrival window as approximate until it's confirmed by phone.

Flight nanny. This is the one we usually recommend for Madera. A trained handler keeps the puppy in the cabin beside them for the whole flight, never in cargo, in an airline approved soft carrier under the seat, and sends photos and video along the way. Most of these deliveries finish in a single day. Because California sits three hours behind Ohio, a morning departure often means an early afternoon handoff your time, and that handoff happens at baggage claim rather than at the gate. Madera County families meet their nanny at Fresno Yosemite International Airport, and Merced Regional Macready Field. Flight nanny costs more than ground and is quoted per flight, since the price depends on the route and the date. The puppy needs to be at least eight weeks old, needs a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian, and needs to weigh under 20 pounds including the carrier. A Yorkshire Terrier puppy at two or three pounds isn't close to that limit, which is part of why the breed travels so well in the cabin.

Timing matters more in California than it does most places. For a midsummer arrival in Madera we aim for early in the day and ask you to have the car cool and a water bowl ready. Toy breed puppies also run their blood sugar down on a travel day, so a small meal soon after you get home matters more than it would with a bigger dog.
