Yorkshire Terrier Puppies for Sale in South Lake Tahoe, CA

Learn Why We're So Fond of Yorkies
Here at The Puppy House, Yorkshire Terriers, also called Yorkies, hold a special place in our hearts. Yorkies have a beautiful, long, silky coat that sheds very little, and they're often suggested for people with allergies. While most Yorkies weigh 7 pounds or less, they have a big-dog attitude that can be feisty and bossy. But what wins people's hearts is their sweet nature and the deep bond they form with their family. Their love of snuggling up and staying by your side is the icing on the cake. They tend to fit right in with most families. Finding a reputable Yorkie breeder in the South Lake Tahoe, California area can be difficult, since there are so few responsible breeders across the country. For that reason, we take great pride in offering our carefully bred Yorkshire Terrier puppies to families in South Lake Tahoe. We're committed to giving every family access to a healthy, well-raised puppy they can rely on.

Why Choose One of Our Puppies
Here at The Puppy House, we breed and raise our Yorkies the right way. We aim much higher than the basics. All of our adult dogs are genetically tested and come from strong bloodlines known for their great temperaments. Our dogs get great care and plenty of room to play and socialize.
Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), a series of gentle handling exercises done in the first few weeks of life, is part of every puppy's routine. Another important step is socialization, which lays the groundwork for good behavior and habits as they grow. Our puppies get to play and explore in the backyard with kids, adults, and our own vaccinated adult dogs. Besides being great socialization, it gives them plenty of exercise.
We'd be happy to have you visit and pick out your puppy in person if you can. During your visit, you can see our home and our dogs and meet us face to face. We put a lot of thought into placing our Yorkies, and to us it's more than a one-time sale. Nothing makes us happier than making new friends, keeping in touch, and watching our pups grow up in loving homes.
Before any puppy goes home, they receive their first round of vaccinations and a thorough veterinary exam. You can bring your new Yorkie home knowing they're healthy, happy, and ready to be part of your family.
Yorkie Puppy Delivery to South Lake Tahoe, California: Costs, Timing, and Airports
There are three ways home, and for South Lake Tahoe the choice is usually between the last two.
Farm pickup. Families are welcome in Sugarcreek by appointment. Driving it from South Lake Tahoe means 2025 miles and 40 to 42 hours behind the wheel in each direction, so the families who visit nearly always fly into Cleveland or Columbus and drive about an hour and a half out into Tuscarawas County. That only makes sense if you were coming east anyway. When it does work out, you see the property, meet the parents where possible, and we go through the vaccination records, microchip registration, and guarantee at the kitchen table. The puppy leaves with a bag of the food it has been eating, a toy, and a blanket that smells like the litter.
Ground transport. A professional pet transport service drives the puppy door to door in a custom climate controlled van, in an individual carrier, with a veterinary check before departure and updates from the road. The fee to California is a flat $450, whether the address is in South Lake Tahoe or in , including Carson City NV, Gardnerville Ranchos NV, Kingsbury NV, Sunnyside-Tahoe City CA, Round Hill Village NV, Tahoma CA, Stateline NV, Walker CA, Dollar Point CA, Genoa NV, and Bridgeport CA. Vans leave on Tuesdays, and the West Coast run takes two to three days depending on the route, so treat any arrival window as approximate until it's confirmed by phone.
Flight nanny. This is the one we usually recommend for South Lake Tahoe. A trained handler keeps the puppy in the cabin beside them for the whole flight, never in cargo, in an airline approved soft carrier under the seat, and sends photos and video along the way. Most of these deliveries finish in a single day. Because California sits three hours behind Ohio, a morning departure often means an early afternoon handoff your time, and that handoff happens at baggage claim rather than at the gate. El Dorado County families meet their nanny at Truckee Tahoe Airport, and Reno Tahoe International Airport. Flight nanny costs more than ground and is quoted per flight, since the price depends on the route and the date. The puppy needs to be at least eight weeks old, needs a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian, and needs to weigh under 20 pounds including the carrier. A Yorkshire Terrier puppy at two or three pounds isn't close to that limit, which is part of why the breed travels so well in the cabin.
Timing matters more in California than it does most places. For a midsummer arrival in South Lake Tahoe we aim for early in the day and ask you to have the car cool and a water bowl ready. Toy breed puppies also run their blood sugar down on a travel day, so a small meal soon after you get home matters more than it would with a bigger dog.
