Learn Why Yorkies Have Our Hearts

At The Puppy House, Yorkshire Terriers, or Yorkies as they're often called, have a special place in our hearts. Known for their beautiful, long, silky coat, Yorkies shed very little and are often recommended for people with allergies. Yorkies generally weigh 7 pounds or less, yet they carry themselves with a big-dog attitude that can be feisty and bossy. But their sweet temperament and the deep bond they create with their family are what win people over. The icing on the cake is their love of cuddling and staying close all the time. They fit in well with most families. Responsible breeders are few and far between across the country, which makes finding a reputable Yorkie breeder in the Van Buren, Arkansas area a challenge. That's what makes us so proud to offer our carefully bred Yorkshire Terrier puppies to families in Van Buren. We're committed to giving every family access to a healthy, well-raised puppy they can rely on.

Why Our Puppies Are Top Quality

We do things the right way at The Puppy House when it comes to breeding and raising Yorkies. Our standards go well beyond the basics. All of our adult dogs are genetically tested and come from strong bloodlines that are known for great temperaments. Every dog we have receives excellent care and has plenty of room to play and socialize.

During their first few weeks, our puppies go through Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), a series of gentle handling exercises. Another important step is socialization, which lays the groundwork for good behavior and habits as they grow. Our puppies enjoy playing and exploring in the backyard with kids, adults, and our own vaccinated adult dogs. It's great socialization, and it's good exercise for them too.

We invite you to come visit and pick out your puppy in person if you can. That way, you can see our home, meet our dogs, and get to know us face to face. We don't take placing our Yorkies lightly, and to us it's more than a one-time sale. We love making new friends, staying in touch, and watching our pups grow up in loving homes.

Every puppy has their first round of vaccinations and a thorough veterinary exam before going to their new home. You can rest easy knowing you're bringing home a healthy, happy Yorkie who's ready to be part of your family.

How Your Yorkie Puppy Travels to Van Buren, Arkansas

Three ways run from Sugarcreek to Van Buren, and the right one depends mostly on how soon you want the puppy home and how you feel about a long drive.

Home delivery by ground

Most Van Buren families choose this. A professional pet transport service drives the puppy door to door in a custom climate controlled van, each puppy in a carrier of its own, with a veterinary check before the van pulls out and word from the driver as it travels. Transport leaves Sugarcreek on Tuesdays. The flat fee to Arkansas is $450, and with Van Buren 775 miles out, most families have the puppy in their arms about two days after departure, sometimes three depending on the route the van takes. Drivers on that trip also stop in , including Fort Smith AR, Alma AR, Stilwell OK, Booneville AR, Ozark AR, Charleston AR, Lavaca AR, Mulberry AR, Cedarville AR, Cherry Tree OK, Kibler AR, Dyer AR, Magazine AR, Altus AR, Fairfield OK, Mountainburg AR, and Rocky Mountain OK, so the price doesn't move if you're elsewhere in Crawford County or a few miles outside town.

For a puppy this small, the van has one advantage worth naming. Young Yorkies need frequent small meals to keep their blood sugar steady, and a ground transport schedule builds those stops in.

Flight nanny

A trained handler carries the puppy in the cabin of a commercial flight, never in cargo, in an airline approved soft carrier under the seat, and hands the puppy to you at baggage claim. Most flight nanny deliveries are done the same day. From Van Buren, the airports that make sense for a handoff are Fort Smith Regional Airport, and Northwest Arkansas National Airport.

Yorkshire Terriers clear the in cabin requirements easily, since the limit is 20 pounds including the carrier and an eight week old Yorkie weighs a couple of pounds. The puppy has to be at least eight weeks old and traveling with a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian. You need a little flexibility in case weather delays a flight. Flight nanny is quoted per trip and costs more than ground delivery.

Pickup at the farm

You're welcome to come to Sugarcreek by appointment, meet the puppy where it was raised, and go over the vaccination records, microchip registration, and health guarantee at the kitchen table. From Van Buren that's 14 to 16 hours of driving each way, so realistically two days on the road plus a hotel. Some families make a trip of it. Most don't, and that's fine.

What we usually suggest for Van Buren

Ground delivery is the answer for nearly everyone. At $450 it is the least complicated option, it costs less than a flight nanny, and nobody has to drive to an airport with a carrier. If you would rather have the puppy home in one day instead of two, ask about a flight nanny when we talk. The method, the timing, and the fee all get settled on the phone after the puppy is reserved.
