Discover the Reasons We Love Yorkies

Yorkshire Terriers, affectionately called Yorkies, have a special place in our hearts at The Puppy House. Yorkies are low-shedding dogs with long, beautiful, silky coats, and they're often recommended for people with allergies. They're small, usually weighing 7 pounds or less, but Yorkies have a big-dog attitude that can be feisty and bossy. But their sweet nature and the deep bond they form with their family are what really win people over. Their love of cuddling and staying close all the time is the icing on the cake. They make a great fit for most families. Since there are so few responsible breeders across the country, finding reputable Yorkie breeders in the Cheshire, Connecticut area can be challenging. For that reason, we take great pride in offering our carefully bred Yorkshire Terrier puppies to families in Cheshire. We want every family to have access to a healthy, well-raised puppy they can depend on.

Find Out What Sets Our Puppies Apart

We breed and raise our Yorkies the right way here at The Puppy House. Our standards are much higher than what's required. Every adult dog we own is genetically tested and comes from strong bloodlines known for great temperaments. Our dogs are well cared for and have lots of space to play and socialize.

Each puppy goes through Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), a series of gentle handling exercises done in the first few weeks of life. Another important step is socialization, which lays the groundwork for good behavior and habits as they grow. The puppies play and explore in our backyard with kids, adults, and our own vaccinated adult dogs. This is great socialization, and it gives them plenty of exercise too.

We invite you to visit us and pick out your puppy in person if you can. Visiting lets you see our home and our dogs and meet us face to face. We take placing each Yorkie seriously, and we see it as more than a one-time sale. We love making new friends along the way, keeping in touch, and watching our pups grow up in loving homes.

Before going home, every puppy gets their first round of vaccinations and is checked thoroughly by a veterinarian. You can rest easy knowing you're bringing home a healthy, happy Yorkie who's ready to be part of your family.

Three Ways a Yorkie Puppy Gets to Cheshire, Connecticut

Connecticut falls in our regional delivery tier, which means door to door ground transport is a flat $350 in Cheshire, in , including Meriden CT, Prospect CT, and Cheshire Village CT, and everywhere else in New Haven County. This is what we recommend for most families here. A professional pet transport service drives the puppy in a climate controlled van, in an individual carrier, with a veterinary check before departure and updates along the way. Vans leave Sugarcreek on Tuesdays, and because Connecticut sits early on the East Coast route, arrival is usually the next day.

Pickup at the farm is open to anyone willing to make the drive, by appointment. From Cheshire that's 461 miles by road, or 8 to 10 hours each way. It makes for a long day. You get to see where the puppy was raised, meet the litter, and go through the health records, microchip registration, and the guarantee face to face before you head home.

Flight nanny is the fastest option and the one families choose when they want the puppy quickly. A trained handler carries the puppy in the cabin in an airline approved carrier under the seat, never in cargo, and hands the puppy to you at baggage claim. Most of these finish same day. The practical arrival airports for Cheshire are Tweed New Haven Airport, and Bradley International Airport. The puppy has to be at least eight weeks old, under twenty pounds including the carrier, and travel with a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian. A grown Yorkshire Terrier weighs four to seven pounds, so that weight limit is never the sticking point with this breed. Flights are quoted per trip and cost more than ground, and winter weather can push a date.

We send home a bag of the food the puppy has been eating. The method, the timing, and the fee all get confirmed on a call once a puppy is reserved.
