See Why We're Crazy About Yorkies

Here at The Puppy House, Yorkshire Terriers, also called Yorkies, hold a special place in our hearts. This breed has a beautiful, long, silky coat and sheds very little, which is why it's often recommended for people with allergies. Despite typically weighing 7 pounds or less, Yorkies carry a big-dog attitude that can be feisty and bossy. But their sweet temperament and the deep bond they create with their family are what win people over. Their love of cuddles and being near you all the time is the icing on the cake. For most families, a Yorkie fits right in. Reputable Yorkie breeders are hard to come by in the San Carlos, California area, since there are so few responsible breeders nationwide. For that reason, we take great pride in offering our carefully bred Yorkshire Terrier puppies to families in San Carlos. We want each family to have access to a healthy, well-raised puppy they can trust.

Why So Many Families Choose Our Puppies

At The Puppy House, breeding and raising Yorkies the right way is what we do. We hold our program to standards well beyond the basics. All the adult dogs in our program are genetically tested and come from strong bloodlines known for great temperaments. Each of our dogs is well cared for and has plenty of room to play and socialize.

Every puppy starts out with Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), a series of gentle handling exercises done over the first few weeks. Socialization is another important step that lays the groundwork for good behavior and habits as our puppies grow. They play and explore in our backyard with kids, adults, and our vaccinated adult dogs. That playtime is great socialization, and it gives them plenty of exercise too.

We encourage you to visit us and pick out your puppy in person if you can. That way, you can check out our home and our dogs and meet us face to face. We take placing our Yorkies to heart, and to us it's more than a one-time sale. We love keeping in touch with the new friends we make and watching our pups grow up in loving homes.

Before any puppy goes home, they receive their first round of vaccinations and a thorough veterinary exam. You can rest assured that you're bringing home a healthy, happy Yorkie who's ready to be part of your family.

Yorkie Puppy Delivery to San Carlos, California: Costs, Timing, and Airports

There are three ways home, and for San Carlos the choice is usually between the last two.

Farm pickup. Families are welcome in Sugarcreek by appointment. Driving it from San Carlos means 2172 miles and 42 to 44 hours behind the wheel in each direction, so the families who visit nearly always fly into Cleveland or Columbus and drive about an hour and a half out into Tuscarawas County. That only makes sense if you were coming east anyway. When it does work out, you see the property, meet the parents where possible, and we go through the vaccination records, microchip registration, and guarantee at the kitchen table. The puppy leaves with a bag of the food it has been eating, a toy, and a blanket that smells like the litter.

Ground transport. A professional pet transport service drives the puppy door to door in a custom climate controlled van, in an individual carrier, with a veterinary check before departure and updates from the road. The fee to California is a flat $450, whether the address is in San Carlos or in , including Redwood City CA, and Belmont CA. Vans leave on Tuesdays, and the West Coast run takes two to three days depending on the route, so treat any arrival window as approximate until it's confirmed by phone.

Flight nanny. This is the one we usually recommend for San Carlos. A trained handler keeps the puppy in the cabin beside them for the whole flight, never in cargo, in an airline approved soft carrier under the seat, and sends photos and video along the way. Most of these deliveries finish in a single day. Because California sits three hours behind Ohio, a morning departure often means an early afternoon handoff your time, and that handoff happens at baggage claim rather than at the gate. San Mateo County families meet their nanny at San Carlos Airport, and San Francisco International Airport. Flight nanny costs more than ground and is quoted per flight, since the price depends on the route and the date. The puppy needs to be at least eight weeks old, needs a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian, and needs to weigh under 20 pounds including the carrier. A Yorkshire Terrier puppy at two or three pounds isn't close to that limit, which is part of why the breed travels so well in the cabin.

Timing matters more in California than it does most places. For a midsummer arrival in San Carlos we aim for early in the day and ask you to have the car cool and a water bowl ready. Toy breed puppies also run their blood sugar down on a travel day, so a small meal soon after you get home matters more than it would with a bigger dog.
