Explore Why We Love Yorkies

Yorkshire Terriers, also called Yorkies, are especially close to our hearts at The Puppy House. A Yorkie's long, beautiful, silky coat sheds very little, which is why the breed is often recommended for people with allergies. For a dog that typically weighs 7 pounds or less, the Yorkie has a big-dog attitude that can be feisty and bossy. But what really wins people over is their sweet nature and the deep bond they form with their family. Their love of cuddling and staying close all the time is the cherry on top. Yorkies adapt easily to most families. Because responsible breeders are so rare across the country, finding a reputable Yorkie breeder in the Newark, Delaware area can be tough. That's exactly why we take great pride in offering our carefully bred Yorkie puppies to families in Newark. We want every family to have access to a healthy, well-raised puppy they can depend on.

Here's What Makes Our Puppies the Best

The Puppy House is dedicated to breeding and raising Yorkies the right way. Our standards go well past the bare minimum. All of our adult dogs have been genetically tested and come from strong bloodlines known for great temperaments. Our dogs are well cared for and enjoy plenty of room to play and socialize.

In the first few weeks of life, every puppy goes through Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), a series of gentle handling exercises. Socialization is another key step, and it lays the groundwork for good behavior and habits as they grow. They play and explore in our backyard with kids, adults, and our vaccinated adult dogs. This is great socialization, and it gives them plenty of exercise too.

We invite you to visit us and pick out your puppy in person if you can. This gives you a chance to see our home and our dogs and meet us face to face. We take placing our Yorkies seriously, and to us it's more than a one-time sale. We enjoy gaining new friends, keeping in touch, and watching our pups grow up in loving homes.

Before heading home, each puppy receives their first round of vaccinations and a thorough veterinary exam. You can bring your new Yorkie home knowing they're healthy, happy, and ready to be part of your family.

Yorkie Puppy Delivery to Newark, Delaware

Pickup in Sugarcreek. You're welcome to come get your puppy in person by appointment. It runs 5 to 7 hours each way from Newark, which makes for a long day. Families from the mid Atlantic do it regularly. Coming out means you see where the puppy was raised, meet the parents, and go through the vaccination records, microchip registration, and the guarantee at the kitchen table instead of over the phone.

Ground delivery, $350. Delaware falls in our regional tier, so home delivery is a flat $350 to any address in the state. A professional transport service drives the puppy door to door in a climate controlled van, in an individual carrier, with a veterinary checkup before departure and updates along the way. Transport leaves on Tuesdays, and East Coast stops are usually next day, so Newark families are holding their puppy the day after the van pulls out. Newark is 316 miles from the farm, close enough to , including Wilmington DE, Middletown DE, Bear DE, Elkton MD, Glasgow DE, Brookside DE, Hockessin DE, New Garden PA, Pike Creek Valley DE, East Nottingham PA, London Grove PA, Pike Creek DE, North Star DE, Kennett Square PA, New London PA, Oxford PA, Lower Oxford PA, Parkesburg PA, North East MD, London Britain PA, West Grove PA, West Nottingham PA, West Fallowfield PA, Upper Oxford PA, Lincoln University PA, Elk PA, Avondale PA, Highland PA, Toughkenamon PA, Charlestown MD, West Marlborough PA, and Cochranville PA that all of New Castle County gets covered in one pass. This is the option we point almost everyone here toward. The price is fixed, nobody has to drive to an airport, and the route east is short enough that the puppy is barely on the road.

Flight nanny. A trained handler carries the puppy in the cabin beside them, never in cargo, and hands the puppy over at baggage claim. It's usually a same day trip. Pricing is per flight, so it costs more than ground. Delaware has limited scheduled airline service of its own, so for Newark this means meeting the flight at Wilmington Airport, and Philadelphia International Airport. The puppy needs to be at least eight weeks old, under 20 pounds including the carrier, and traveling with a health certificate, plus some flexibility if weather pushes the flight.

An adult Yorkshire Terrier tops out around seven pounds, so cabin weight limits are never the problem for this breed. Whichever way your puppy travels, we settle the method, the timing, and the cost together on a call once the puppy is reserved.
