Find Out Why We Love Yorkshire Terriers

Yorkshire Terriers, also known as Yorkies, are a breed we really love at The Puppy House. Yorkies are low-shedding dogs with long, beautiful, silky coats, and they're often recommended for people with allergies. Even though they typically weigh 7 pounds or less, Yorkies have a big-dog attitude that can be feisty and bossy. But the real reason people fall for Yorkies is their sweet nature and the deep bond they form with their family. Even better, they love to cuddle and stay close all the time. They're well suited to most families. It's not always easy to find reputable Yorkie breeders in the Merritt Island, Florida area, because responsible breeders are scarce across the country. That's why we're proud to offer families in Merritt Island our carefully bred Yorkshire Terrier puppies. We're committed to giving every family access to a healthy, well-raised puppy they can rely on.

Discover Why Our Yorkie Puppies Are the Best

Breeding and raising Yorkies the right way matters to us at The Puppy House. Our standards go much further than the basics. Each of our adult dogs is genetically tested and comes from strong bloodlines known for great temperaments. Our dogs are well cared for and have lots of space to play and socialize.

Every puppy takes part in Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), a series of gentle handling exercises done in the first few weeks of life. Socialization is also an important step, since it lays the groundwork for good behavior and habits as puppies grow. Our puppies enjoy playing and exploring in the backyard with kids, adults, and our own vaccinated adult dogs. It's a great way to socialize them, and they get plenty of exercise too.

You're welcome to visit us and pick out your puppy in person if you can. That way, you can see our home, meet our dogs, and get to know us face to face. We take placing our Yorkies to heart, and to us it's more than a one-time sale. We love making new friends along the way, keeping in touch, and watching our pups grow up in loving homes.

Before going home, every puppy gets their first round of vaccinations and is checked thoroughly by a veterinarian. You can rest easy knowing you're bringing home a healthy, happy Yorkie who's ready to be part of your family.

Getting Your Puppy From Sugarcreek to Merritt Island, Florida

Families are welcome to pick up in person at the farm by appointment. From Merritt Island that means 828 miles on the road and 16 to 18 hours of driving each way, a two day trip for most Floridians. The families who make it come for the visit as much as the puppy, since it's the one way to walk the property, meet the parent dogs, and go over the health records and microchip registration face to face.

Ground transport is what most Florida families use. A professional pet transport service drives the puppy door to door in a climate controlled van, with an individual carrier, a veterinary check before departure, and updates along the way. Transport leaves Sugarcreek on Tuesdays, and Florida runs take two to three days depending on the route and the stops before yours. Florida falls in our regional pricing tier at a flat $350, which is the same fee we charge Pennsylvania and Georgia even though the drive is several times longer. That rate covers Merritt Island, , including Titusville FL, Rockledge FL, and Port St. John FL, and any other address in Brevard County.

Flight nanny is the answer when you want the puppy home fast. A trained handler carries the puppy in the cabin, never in cargo, and hands it to you at baggage claim. Most of these deliveries finish the same day. For Merritt Island, nannies fly into Melbourne Orlando International Airport, and Orlando Sanford International Airport. The puppy needs to be at least eight weeks old, under 20 pounds including the carrier, and traveling with a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian, plus some flexibility on your end if weather pushes a flight. Cost is quoted per flight rather than by tier. The farther down the peninsula you are, the faster the driving miles pile up, and the extra money can buy back a full day.

Two things about this breed are worth knowing before travel day. A grown Yorkshire Terrier tops out around seven pounds, so the 20 pound in cabin limit is never a problem, and a puppy this small can dip low on blood sugar after a long day of travel. Small frequent meals in the first days home are the fix, and we go over that with you before your puppy leaves. If you're meeting a nanny at an airport in July, park close and get the carrier into air conditioning quickly rather than letting it sit in a hot garage.
